After you own one, you never have to buy one again, and can modify it to suit your own needs. That's just it. (Unless of course your hosting package already provides one for your use, or you already own one). I won't tell you to spend any money on promotion, or spend your hard earned cash on e-zine ads or anything like that. Instead we're going to use your resources to build each other and make the future of your business a bright one. If you don't have one of the resources we mention when you start out, you sure will after you launch your first product. Beforehand you're severely limited, not to worry though, read it all because you'll find that by the time you start promoting your large product, you'll have everything you need anyway through the promotion. That's the beauty of this system. It works no matter how many products you have or haven't launched in the past. The Structure The first thing I want to do is touch on the structure. Remember your goals and keep them solidly in mind when designing you own product launch promotion drive. Your overall aim isn't to make millions through one product it's to use these products to build your resources so that you can make your money with future products. The bigger you build, the more you'll make. For reference, here's the chart I use in all my marketing courses that clearly shows the 5 big resources you should be building to ensure your online success. The All Powerful Resource Snowball No matter how odd or unrelated one of them may seem, I guarantee you it can be tied into another resources and build two at a time. Never ever start again, and if you're not sure how to do something, or it's been a long day and you're not in the mood, take a break and make sure you do this properly. It's imperative that you don't miss any out. Each one you miss will limit your money making capability by 20% in the present, and as that snowballs in the future, we're going to be looking at an incalculable amount, and that's not the kind of money we want to be losing. We’ll take a final look at these diagrams once your promotions start to go out and you have the space to begin managing your resources in such a way that they build each other. Note: This isn’t a cheap excuse for me to make things seem complicated, or revolutionary. Nothing like that. These diagrams simply represent each resource building the others, which in effect leaves you with an almost never ending crowd to promote for you, to strike deals with, to promote to and to make a hefty profit from. So here comes the goal list. This is the list that I use every single time I launch a product, and something you should use too. This is when we pool everything that we’ve learned so far and put them together to become a complete marketing system that builds itself. The business end if you will. Now aside from the affiliate systems that you'll need to set up, nothing else costs. If you're reading the following list and find yourself saying to yourself that you can't afford it or don't have the time to do it, we've got our wires crossed somewhere, because nothing else should cost you anything, ever. Chapter 4: Launch Checklist So here goes, the checklist. You should have everything here set up and ready to go before even thinking about promotion. In order, we'll look at each resource in turn to make this crystal clear. For sales, for affiliate promotion, for your list, for your research and for joint ventures. Once you can honestly put a tick beside each of these you're ready to get prepping your promotion. A) For Sales. A small starter intro product priced around $20-$60 directly related to your larger product. A quality product in itself with the direct intent to sell buyers onto the larger product. Big Product, Your Money Maker. Your money maker. Priced between $200 and $2000. Sales will come from your smaller product and after launch when your resources start building, from those also. Follow-up for your small product. For the sole intention of resource building, and pulling customers back to the small product site to get them to purchase the intro product and flow down the line. Seven day follow-up system. Follow-up for your large product. For the sole intention of resource building and pulling people back to your high priced product site enticing them to buy at a later date or after more than one view. Seven day follow-up system. B) For Affiliate Promotion. Affiliate System Set Up. To track sales for small product set to around 50-90% payouts and ready to go copy and paste advertising material for affiliates in the form of solo ads. Sole intention of resource building. Very high commissions enticing people to sign up and promote for you, increasing all your primary resources. Affiliate System Set Up To Track Sales For Large Product Set to around 40-60% payouts and ready to go copy and paste advertising material for affiliates in the form of solo ads. Sole intention: To put money in your pocket. Most of your resources will come through the promotion of the small product. This is where your profits come in. Keep the affiliate system here for a JV bargaining tool at the start. Move to regular affiliates after making a number of personal and JV sales. C) For Your List. List Collecting Names Who Buy Small product. Sole Intention: Resource building of 'Customers'. For people who buy your small product. Will form the basis of your list of customers ready to sell onto your bigger product manually if the follow-up doesn't work, or, use for future large products. Feeds into your auto-responders forming list: #1. Medium priority customers. List collecting names who buy large product. Sole Intention: Resource building of 'Long term Customers'. Your special people who have proved they're ready to buy. Will form the basis of long term customers who will also be fed straight onto future larger products, along with preferential treatment from you. Will be the least numerous, but the biggest money makers. Feeds into your autoresponders forming list #2. High priority customers. List for collecting names who visit but don't sign up for anything on small product site. Sole Intention: Resource building of 'Standard List'. People who buy nothing but sign up for your special report, or your in a rush reports. Will form the basis of all your future promotion. List for collecting names who visit but don't sign up for anything on large product site. Sole Intention: Resource building of 'Standard List'. People who buy nothing but sign up for your special report, or your in a rush report. Will form the basis of all your future promotion. Important it doesn’t interfere with your sales process on high ticket item site that’s there to make you profit and not build resources. D) For Your Research. An Ad Tracker set Up: Sole Intention: Research & Testing. Used for split run testing, testing of ads and different methods of collecting your resources, and coming up with new products or modifications to current ones. Test two variations of one aspect of your sales system, ask yourself which one works best, keep it, move on to another test. Use to refine your sales system for this and future products. E) For JV's. Affiliate system set-up especially for JV's for small product. Sole intention: Resource building of JV's and business contacts. 100% commissions on a smaller product can be a great bargaining tool and a massive resource builder. Affiliate System Set Up especially for JV's for your money maker, or your high ticket item. Sole Intention: Resource building of JV's and business contacts, to make a big profit. This may not even be needed, but it's nice to have as every deal differs. You may find that your JV partner wants higher commissions for themselves or for the affiliates they refer even. Good bargaining tool and paves the way for long term relationships. Folder or file for the details of each JV. Sole Intention: Resource Building of JV's. Keep everything in order, and have a folder for each joint venture you carry out. Record the person, their contact details, and the details of the joint venture, including it's type, whether you'll be able to contact them again in the future, how big their list is, how much you made, what you agreed etc. (See JV's the specs) Checklist Ticked That's it. You're all set and ready to go. If you don't have every single thing set up in the above list, I'd suggest you get about setting it up. It seems a lot, but trust me, not only does it cost you hardly anything to set up (even the affiliate program you can keep going for $30 a month instead of laying down $500 right off) but it gets easier every time you create a product. Create the above once, and next time you come up with and create a new product, you simply plug it in and you're away. Don't be put off at this stage. It gets easier, cheaper and more profitable as you go along. Next up, we'll be looking at the planning of your actual promotion and getting some resources rolling into your system and having them start to build each other whilst making you some cash along the way. Chapter 5: Get Going Welcome to part two of your four week promotion plan. (It did start as two weeks, but we cheated and added two weeks of planning in the previous section) In the last report we talked about setting up each of your resource harvesters, why we're setting them up, what the goals are relating to setting those up and, of course, the problems, both time wise and financially that may come with doing so. In this section we're moving on from the planning stages assuming that you have everything set up from the previous report. You will need them. Unfortunately it's a fact that seventy five percent of the people that buy this guide won't set things up as we've talked about and just disappear into the darkness and buy more guides in the future looking for that magic tip that’s going to make them millions of dollars overnight. It won't happen unless they happen to win the cash. Don't let one of these people be you. I don't want anyone that's purchased this report to be in the same position in three or four months’ time. It's time to move forward and I want you to do the same, and hey, it wouldn't reflect well on me either if there were a horde of people out there walking around talking about how my report doesn't work. Locking Down Your Resources So planning stages out of the way, let’s move on now and start getting some self building resources circulating through your system. The first step two weeks before the launch of your product, planning all said and done, is to get the initial flood of resources through everything you've taken the effort to set up through joint ventures. What I don't want you to do is pick the most famous people, and the biggest names you know about and approach them. Now there's nothing wrong with doing that, but I assure you everyone else out there is doing the same. You know, it's amazing when I look at some of the sites I've joined, websites I've promoted and had promoted for me, that the biggest and heaviest hitters I've never heard of before. There are plenty of people out there to joint venture with in many fields of expertise. If they have access to the people you're trying to reach, this is the kind of person you want to get in with. There are a few things I want to tell you if you haven't done this before, and that's, you will be denied. I've met so many people that can't get over that little niggling question, what if it doesn't work? Don't be afraid of failing whatever you do. I sat here in my chair working on so many products that I couldn't get out there for a couple of years because I was afraid of what people would say and, I have to say, I hate failing with a vengeance. I'm still recovering and as a result have at least four complete products at the time of writing that haven't gone out because I just haven't had the time since I got over that stuff. Products that could have bought me a new house years ago, a new car, holidays, and that juicy 64" plasma panel I’ve had my eyes on for way too long. So if this bothers you, let’s put our cards on the table right now.

To increase response, offer a premium or fun prize. When you incorporate segmentation into your email marketing strategy, you should see significant gains from sending relevant, targeted content to specific audiences. Specifically, you should notice an increase in opens, click-throughs, conversions, and ROI. You should also see a decrease in list attrition since you are sending content that readers are genuinely interested in receiving. With tools like personalization and dynamic content readily available, segmentation becomes a strategy that is simple to execute. Combine simplicity with significant gains, and segmentation becomes a strategy you can’t afford to ignore. Chapter 5: How To Optimize Your Landing Page Landing pages are the foundation of great inbound marketing strategies. These pages literally serve as the location of your prospect “land” on your website. If you are trying to generate new leads or sell products online, landing pages are the place to that happen. And in a world where the average attention span online is about eight seconds, it is critical that our landing pages are optimized for instant conversion. With such a short time to make your first impression, you need to ensure every piece of your landing page is well-planned and working correctly. In addition to that, many repeat visitors will come across your landing page. Optimizing your landing page will ensure these folks continuously see the information they expect, helping them become your brand advocates! What Is A Landing Page? Even in an intermediate guide, it is best to start with the basics. Let’s begin with a quick review of some core concepts in landing page optimization. A landing page is a web page that allows you to capture a visitor’s information through a lead form. It is where your visitor “land” after clicking on a call to action button. This is the crux of your inbound marketing strategy. It is the point on your conversion path where you collect the information that generates a lead. As a rule of thumb, a landing page usually includes a compelling header, interesting copy, minimal navigation and an optimized form. In addition to good design, a good landing page employs great strategy. The best landing pages target a particular audience, such as traffic from an email campaign to promote a particular offer or visitor who click on a pay-per-click ad to promote a specific campaign. It is important to build a unique landing page for each offer you create. You can build landing pages that allow visitors to download or opt-in to receive your content offer such as coupons, e-book, gift or sign up for offers further down the funnel such as free trials and product demos. Why Are Landing Page Important? As I explained above, landing page is where you capture your leads or sell your products. Therefore, designing an outstanding landing page experience is critical to effectively converting a higher percentage of your visitors into leads and sales. Landing pages make it much easy for your website visitors to receive an offer, since they are taken directly to the offer itself rather than having to navigate around your website to find it. Landing pages also help to clarify what visitors must do to receive your offer. The best marketing is about delivering the right information, to the right person, at the right time. That’s how you create a marketing that people love. By directing your visitors to a landing page, the exact page with the offer and the form they must complete to get it, you increase the likelihood that they will complete your form and convert into leads. Types Of Landing Page Since landing pages play such a critical role in driving leads and consequently, revenue, many online marketing firms are building entire consulting arms with the sole aim of optimizing company landing pages. However, there is one thing you need to know. You need to know the type of your landing page that suits your website. Landing pages come in three main flavours. Main Site The landing page might be part of your main corporate website. Such pages have the same navigation and page layout as all of the other pages on your site. The specific landing page might be buried several layers deep within your site organization, or it might be your home page. Microsite The landing page is part of a microsite specifically designed for a single audience or purpose. A microsite usually has one main call to action and all of the information on the site funnels the visitor back to this desired conversion action. A microsite usually contains a few pages of supporting information that allow a visitor to make an educated decision about the topic in question, and request further information or buy something. Such information includes a detailed description of your product or service, buying guides or wizards, downloadable whitepapers, comparison to similar products or services, case studies, testimonials, and other validation. Microsite can branded as part of your main company or can have their own stand-alone brand. Stand-alone Some web pages are specifically designed for a particular marketing campaign. Such pages usually have specific information related only to the offer or action that you would like your visitor to take. Usually there is a clear, single call to action. If the desired action is not taken, stand-alone landing pages may employ an exit pop-up window with a secondary desired action, or a repeat of the original call to action. The type of landing page that you deploy is largely dictated by your traffic source, as well as the type of product or service that you offer. Ideally your traffic can be specifically directed to a particular page and tracked in significant detail. For example, a PPC campaign allows you to specify the exact landing page for each keyword. This information can be tracked through the conversion process, and allows you to calculate the ROI at the keyword level. Such traffic should generally be directed at goal-oriented, stand-alone landing page. The advantage of stand-alone landing pages is that they are targeted. They do not overwhelm your visitor or distract them with irrelevant information. This usually result in the best bang for the buck and highest conversion rates. Understanding Your Landing Pages So now, what parts of your site are mission critical? Mission critical activities on your sites can easily be identified. All you have to do is ask yourself the following question. Does the content create a meaningful transaction or deepen your relationship with the visitor? A meaningful transaction does not have to be your ultimate conversion goal. It can be a small incremental step that creates psychological momentum toward that goal. Deepening your relationship means that you have been given a higher level of trust by the visitor. Tangible evidence of this includes spending more time on important parts of your site. So does increased page views of key content. Of course, the most important indicators are the sharing of information by filling out forms, calling or chatting; downloading written materials or computer programs; signing up for free trials and promotions or actually buying something. Besides, this will be an important question that you will need to ask yourself which is, who is your target audience? Your business attracts a number of possible visitor classes to your site. These may include prospects, clients, current business partner or investors. The usual practice is to provide a comprehensive view of your company and to give each of these visitor classes equal billing. The company is often portrayed along product lines or as client-facing functional departments. Your landing page should be modified to best serve the mission critical visitor classes. Everyone may want real estate on the home page, but they do not necessarily deserve it in equal measure. Conversion actions are measurable events that move a visitor toward the mission critical activities that you have identified. Examples of conversion actions along with their measurement and efficiency metrics follow. Advertising This includes advertising online, such as banners, text ads and sponsor links. Measuring advertising effectiveness usually involves tracking the number of times that an ad was seen or clicked on. Another measure is the average advertising revenue per page view for alternative ad page layouts. Education Some websites have ultimate conversion steps that require a lot of up-front education. They provide resources and online guides to fully explain their products and services. If education of visitors is your primary goal, the key metrics are the time spent on your educational pages and the number of page views. Purchase Many companies measure sales efficiency by looking at their sales conversion rate, or their shopping cart abandonment rate. In many circumstances, the revenue per visitor and profit per visitor are more useful metrics. For example, if you sell multiple products at widely varying prices, you can bias the mix of products that you sell intentionally. This may mean that you choose to lower your sale conversion rate to focus on higher-ticket items. Conversely, you may seemingly raise your sales conversion rate by emphasizing smaller-ticket items. The merit of the trade-offs involved in such situations can be evaluated by focusing on the revenue per visitor metric. Understanding Your Audience We are all familiar with the Golden Rule: “Do onto other what you want other do onto you.” This ethical guidepost exist in many variants the world’s major philosophies and religions. But it is missing an essential component by presupposing that everyone is the same. Moreover, it makes your behaviour and beliefs the standard by which all conduct should be judged and measured. “Do onto others as you would have you do onto them.” The Platinum Rule, by Dr. Tony Alessandra. I ran across this more powerful formulation at a sales training workshop many years ago and it resonated deeply for me. Here was the missing component: empathy. People are not all the same. If we want to understand them, we should try to step outside of our own needs and experience the world from their perspective. Like a solid news report, you must understand the basics of the story and be able to articulate the following particulars about your audience. Let me further explain. Who Is Your Audience? The who of your audience is defined by their demographics and segmentation. Because you can’t meet every visitor toy our site in person, you re limited to use aggregated information. You understand the traffic source hitting your website and the specific landing pages. Exclusive information is also available about these visitors and their behaviour. From a landing page optimization perspective, it is important to exactly determine what subset of your traffic will be used for the test. You should pay particular attention to its stability and consistency over time. Where On Your Website Does The Interaction Occur?

Table of Contents Introduction ........ 5 Chapter 1: Building Your Business With FACEBOOK 6 Chapter 2: Starting Up Your FACEBOOK Ads 14 Chapter 3: Getting Into Business 16 Chapter 4: FACEBOOK Ads, Good, Bad, and Ugly ..... 29 Chapter 5: FACEBOOK Ads Tips and Strategies ........ 34 Wrapping Up .... 44 Sample Content Preview Chapter 2: Starting Up Your FACEBOOK Ads FACEBOOK Social Ads work virally, but rather than being spread in a random fashion, they are placed on FACEBOOK members’ pages, based on their profile data – which can make them a powerful sales aid for marketers – especially in this current decade, where mobile devices are now replacing personal computers at the rate of 4 – 1. However, like any data system spread via the net, there are rules, restrictions and random factors that can greatly inhibit or enhance their success. In this Special Report, we will explore the ins – and outs – of FACEBOOK Social Ads. What this Report is Not… It is not a complete guide to FACEBOOK Ad Creation. Instead, it focuses more on the nuances you will not pick up from FACEBOOK’s easy “Advertising Creation” walk-through… and drawbacks to watch out for. How FACEBOOK Ads Work Adrian enjoys and loves fishing, and publicly says so in his FACEBOOK profile. A successful Fishing Club wants to promote its weekend fishing site, so it purchases a FACEBOOK Ads. FACEBOOK uses Insight, a powerful demographics tool, to place the Ad via a feed on Adrian’s profile, after extracting the information, is passionate about all things fisherman and lives within a close geographical radius of the Fishing Club, so is a likely candidate to view the ads Since it’s his passion, Adrian always pays attention whenever there’s a picture of a fish in an ad – and he also notices the Fishing Club provides accommodation for those needs a stay in so he clicks the “Like This” button and views the Ads. FACEBOOK then finds more ads using this specialized search data – voluntarily provided by Adrian – to place other fishing activities in his Ad feed. (It also adds special needs-related ads, since this was one of the keywords the ad used.) But there’s more: Adrian has 384 friends on FACEBOOK. 10 of these friends are also connected to his via fishing activities. They read that Adrian “likes” our Fishing Club and has become its FACEBOOK Fan. Trusting his judgment and recommendation, they click on the link… You can see instantly by this example that the combination of becoming a fan and having ads served by profile-targeted feed considerably increases your chances, as an Advertiser, of having your ads read by the right people. Furthermore, assuming that a percentage of Adrian’s 10 fishing friends do read the geo- targeted1 Ad, 8 of them opted to stay in at the accommodation but all of them select “Like”. Even with this hypothetical example, you can instantly see the potential for our well-marketed fishing club to spread virally… all within a highly focused group more likely to buy. Before you know it, our fishing club has a real following. Chapter 3: Getting Into Business The FACEBOOK Platform FACEBOOK’s platform allows almost anyone to develop widgets and applications, which are placed in the Applications directory, where anyone can grab an App and “place” it on their Profile page. It also gives “click and point” ability for people to include or exclude things on their profile (including Ads they like – or don’t like!) FACEBOOK users report liking the feel of control they have over Ads that appear in their right-hand sidebar. If a particular subject or Ad annoys them, they can choose not receive similar ones. They can “Like” your Ad (leading to more – and to its repetition)… or “Report” it, if they deem it misleading or inappropriate (or even if they’re just in a cranky mood that day!) Remembering this should help you target your audience even more carefully. Keep 3 things always in mind, however, when you prepare to create your Ads… Social relevance Social enjoyment Social interest FACEBOOK also allows you to announce and promote events, create a Group Page or create a company, business or personal Fan Page. You can link your FACEBOOK Ads very easily to any of the above – and therein covers one of FACEBOOK Ads’ biggest advantages! And now let’s have a quick look at the process… FACEBOOK Ad Creation – The Process The actual ad creation itself is an incredibly simple, 3-step process. FACEBOOK virtually walks you through it every step of the way, and even a beginner can quickly get the hang of it: However, it always pays to know how FACEBOOK ads work in the real world, as well as familiarizing yourself with all the factors that affect FACEBOOK Advertising success or failure, so you can plan your Advertising campaign wisely, well in advance. The basic process runs like this: You either visit FAEBOOK Advertising directly – or click on the “Create an Ad” link that will appear regularly in your FACEBOOK page right-hand sidebar (along with all the other Ads targeted to your preference that you usually see). Are They Free? No. But FACEBOOK Social Ads are a less expensive option than Google AdWords – and if you want to reach that segment of your potential niche market who operates solely on mobiles, or who spend all their days on FACEBOOK, they are essential. (Don’t forget that FACEBOOK Mobile is going to play a huge part in displaying your ads!) You can choose either pay-per-click (PPC) or pay-per-impression (PPM). You are charged a pre-arranged amount for your PPC ad every time someone clicks on it. With PPM, you are charged per impression (an `impression’ being the number of times your ad appears). You pay lump sums in advance by purchasing “credits”. Your clicks or impressions are then deducted from these credits. (You can purchase credits in as small an increment as $20.) Your ad will run as long as you still have credits remaining. You can top up your credits to keep it running, or let it run out and edit/tweak your Ad further. There are no fixed costs for Ads, but FACEBOOK actually helps you determine what a good rate to set would be, based on criteria you enter in their targeting formula. (You can also set your Ad to end at a specific point… or run continuously.) How Do You Track Your FACEBOOK Social Ads? Without the ability to track an Ad, its effectiveness drops dramatically. Fortunately, FACEBOOK has a platform named FACEBOOK Insights, which allows you to view the number of clicks and impressions your Ad receives in real time. How Should I Target my FACEBOOK Ads? There’s no cut-and-dried answer to this, except to make sure your keywords are actually suited for the way FACEBOOK operates… and the way it dispenses ads (based on keywords in user profiles). Start with targeting by country – other options will be presented to you, based on the country you select (and you can actually select up to 25, though this will preclude you from being specific as to city). You always have to keep in mind that this is a social network: Find Groups or Fan Pages similar to your own interests, and see what keywords they seem to be using… But remember, above all, FACEBOOK for its users is all about easy entertainment – not concentrated searches.

It should provide enough information to let customers know whether or not the offer you're presenting is interesting to them. If your headline isn’t specific enough, customers won’t know whether or not what you’re selling is something they’re interested in. Here’s an example: A while ago I visited a blog with this headline: “You’ll Be Missed.” I had no idea what it was about. Did the owner lose a family member? Did her dog pass away? Did something else terrible happen? I felt bad for her, but I had no idea what was going on. When I clicked through, I found out it was a post about Steve Jobs. He had just passed away in the past couple of days, and the author was writing about how she would miss Mr. Jobs. It ended up being a well-written post, but as a reader, I had no idea what it was about until I clicked through to read. In cases like this, it’s much better to provide enough specific information to compel readers to continue reading than to write something “clever” that doesn’t give readers adequate information to decide whether or not they’re interested. Your Headline Should Conveys A Sense Of Urgency When possible, your headline should convey a sense of urgency. It should include something that compels readers to continue reading so they don’t miss out. This isn’t a rule that can always be used, but when it can, it works really well. Here’s an example: This post ended up doing well on the KISSmetrics blog. It’s titled “Are You Losing Sales by Giving Customers Too Many Choices?” So why was it so successful? One of the reasons is that it conveys a sense of urgency. When business owners read it, automatically they think, “Hmmm... maybe I am losing sales. I need to read this article to find out.” And then they click through to read. The urgency of losing sales compels them to read the post. Whenever possible, it’s good to write headlines that convey a sense of urgency to convince people to continue reading. Your Headline Should Be Useful This may be the most important tip of all. If your headline isn’t useful and doesn’t convey a benefit, then it may not give people a reason to continue on past the headline. People want to know what benefit they’ll receive from reading what you’ve written. This also happens to be one of the rules that companies break the most. They end up writing something clever because for some reason most people think that’s the point of writing a headline. In doing so they fail to communicate a benefit and fail to give readers a reason to continue reading. Eventually, they end up with disappointing sales because no one pays attention to their copy. That’s a mistake you don’t want to make. Chapter 2: Writing To Communicate In an article published in the Harvard Business Review, Charles K. Ramond described experiments designed to measure advertising effectiveness. The experiments showed, not surprisingly, that advertising is most effective when it is easy to understand. In other words, you sell more merchandise when you write clear copy. In theory, it sounds easy. Advertising deals, for the most part, with simple subjects—clothing, soda, beer, soap, records. But in practice, many advertisements don’t communicate as effectively as they could. So, how to communicate in a right way? Here’s some tips for you. Tips For Writing Clear Copy Put the Reader First Think of the reader. Ask yourself: Will the reader understand what I have written? Does he know the special terminology I have used? Does my copy tell her something important or new or useful? If I were the reader, would this copy persuade me to buy the product? One technique to help you write for the reader is to address the reader directly as “you” in the copy, just as I am writing to you in this book. Copywriters call this the “you-orientation.” Flip through a magazine, and you’ll see that 90 percent of the ads contain the word “you” in the body copy. Carefully Organize Your Selling Points When you write your copy, you must carefully organize the points you want to make. In an ad, you might have one primary sales message (“This car gets good mileage”) and several secondary messages (“roomy interior,” “low price,” “$500 rebate”). The headline states the main selling proposition, and the first few paragraphs expand on it. Secondary points are covered later in the body copy. If this copy is lengthy, each secondary point may get a separate heading or number. The organization of your selling points depends on their relative importance, the amount of information you give the reader, and the type of copy you are writing (letter, ad, commercial, or news story). Before you create an ad or mailer, write down your sales points. Organize them in a logical, persuasive, clear fashion. And present them in this order when you write your copy. Break the Writing into Short Sections If the content of your ad can be organized as a series of sales points, you can cover each point in a separate section of copy. This isn’t necessary in short ads of 150 words or less. But as length increases, copy becomes more difficult to read. Breaking the text into several short sections makes it easier to read. What’s the best way to divide the text into sections? If you have a series of sections where one point follows logically from the previous point, or where the sales points are listed in order of importance, use numbers. If there is no particular order of importance or logical sequence between the sales points, use graphic devices such as bullets, asterisks, or dashes to set off each new section. If you have a lot of copy under each section, use subheads.

In fact, as we’ve discussed, a little stress is necessary in order to help you feel more alert, more focused and more productive. If we never had even a small amount of stress hormones in our system, then we would spend all our time highly rested and too laid back to get any actual work done! The key is to make sure that those stress levels stay at this optimal level, as well as to try and get your natural cycles to line up with the times when you need to be most productive during the day. And we can start by hijacking some of the physiological aspects we’ve already discussed… Managing Blood Sugar One very simple way to keep your stress at bay, is to avoid letting your blood sugar drop too low. We’ve already seen that low blood sugar triggers the release of cortisol and other stress hormones and so it follows that by avoiding low blood sugar, we can avoid this fate. The best way to manage your blood sugar levels, is to avoid consuming simple carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are the best source of blood sugar for the human body but the problem is that in their ‘simple’ form, they release energy into the blood much too quickly. This results in a sudden spike in sugar, which then gets taken up and leaves you drained again. What’s more, is that this causes the release of melatonin – the sleep hormone – as we’ve seen earlier. Not ideal for working. If you have a breakfast that is made up of pancakes and syrup then, it will wake you up and make you feel good in the morning but an hour later you’ll start to run low on energy and that will cue the release of cortisol. So instead, try consuming a source of calories that will release the sugar more gradually into your bloodstream. A great choice is some form of complex carbohydrate, such as oats. This takes longer to reach the blood stream, providing a steady stream of blood sugar and preventing you from going into alert ‘starvation’ mode. Conversely, fat will also have the same effect. When you consume a saturated fat, this will once again sit in the stomach while it gets broken down, providing you with a steady release of energy that will help you go about your business throughout the day. Stay Comfortable Comfort is fantastic for reducing stress and this has been shown in studies to help boost creativity. It only takes your keys to be digging into your pocket for example, for your body to consider you as uncomfortable and potentially being damaged. Thus, you will find that if you can sit in a more supportive and comfortable chair and also ensure the temperature is right and you are surrounded by things that put you at ease (plants have been shown to do this well for most people), then you will start to feel a lot calmer – even when you’re at work and other stresses are being thrown at you. Spend Time Away From Screens Computers, smartphones and television are all great. They’re entertaining and they’re great for productivity. Unfortunately though, they’re also very bad for us when it comes to stress hormones. We’ve already discussed how light from screens can trigger the release of cortisol and we’ve seen that the constant messages and alerts essentially trigger a series of small stress responses while we’re surfing the web. This is manageable but it becomes problematic when you spend too much time on the computer. Simply going for occasional walks and taking breaks from the screen throughout the day then will be a great way to help your body recover. Another tip is to take time off just before bed. If you aim to have a restorative and restful night’s sleep, then you need to give yourself time to ‘wind down’ just before you hit the sack. Taking time away from computers is one of the best ways to do this, so why not have a bath before bed with some candles instead? Or read by a more natural type of light? Give yourself half an hour of ‘screen off’ time and you’ll find you get to sleep much quicker and feel more restored in the morning. No can do? If you absolutely can’t separate yourself from your gadgets at the end of the day, then try using software that will reduce the amount of ‘blue light’ coming from the screen. Redshift technology will help you block the most damaging wavelengths from your devices and thereby create a more restful light. An alternative is to wear ‘blue blocking shades’ which can block all blue light in your environment before bed! Get Rid of Your Alarm You know what really isn’t helping your stress levels? Your morning alarm! The reason alarms tend to choose from a generic range of sounds, is that bleeps and ringing sounds are unnatural. These sounds don’t occur in nature and thus we are attuned to them and they make us naturally sit up and take notice. In other words: they trigger a stress response. And now bear in mind that when this happens, you are often in the very deepest stage of sleep. What a way to start your day! Rudely woken from the depths of sleep by a blaring noise, only to find yourself in a pitch dark room. There are two much healthier alternatives to consider… Fitness Tracker One option is to use a fitness tracker/smart watch that has a smart alarm function. These work by monitoring your heartrate and your movement during the night, in order to estimate how awake or asleep you are at any given stage. Using this information, they can then wake you up at the point when you’re in light REM sleep, rather than deep SWS sleep. The result is that you’re woken at a point when you’re already coming around anyway – and this is combined with a gentle nudge from a vibration, rather than a loud ringing. Daylight Lamp Better yet, is to use a daylight lamp. These are lamps that are designed to create a wavelength similar to that of the sun – with plenty of blue light! In that way, these are the opposite of redshift technology or blue blocking shades. These lights will then be built into alarm, that are able to gradually get brighter as it nears the point that you set to wake up at. This helps to gradually stir you into wakefulness, by mimicking the effects of a sunrise. You start to feel more and more awake and your brain

Upload behind-the-scenes-photos on social media Always telling potential consumers on the goods and service you offer and their probable competitive advantage over other similar goods in the market is monotonous. Every internet marketer does that and internet users are used to it. It is always the order of the day. However, you can be cleverer to include on your posts behind-the-scenes photos that show how the goods or services are being produced or consumed by consumers. Sometimes showing photos of your employees, your warehouse or workspace makes potential consumers more likely to be interested in your posts. It is therefore imperative for you to include unlikely photos in your posts on social media in a bid to woe more traffic. 5. Always update real time statistics and data of your company Customers are always interested in your real time progress. They are always eager to know whether your business is progressive, stagnant or dwindling and falling. Show it to them this can be achieved by regularly posting statistics and data regarding the progress of your business. On most occasions, internet users, especially social media users, find it interesting to know that their contributions on your products or services have positive impacts on your sales. It is therefore important to provide this information to them on a regular basis. Additionally, never hesitate to tell your audience whenever your company statistics go to the negative. 6. Recycle your posts that did really well by attracting more traffic There is absolutely wrong with recycling your old posts that went a long way in building great traffic and thereby making more sales for you. However, you should take into close consideration not to recycle posts that still have active discussions and engagements. It will look so desperate for you. One ought to be keen to only recycle expired posts that did great when they were still active. Re-introduce old posts by including relevant links on them. As such, one can promote a different aspect of product or service using an old post that seemed to attract more engagement as compared to other posts. You will be amazed at the enthusiasm in which social media users will receive a recycled post. Once interesting; always interesting. This will never change. 7. Guest-post on other famous posts or blogs You will be surprised on the outcome of using other people’s traffic to your own advantage. Internet marketing begins from scratch and before you create your own massive following, it is never wrong to borrow from other established internet marketers. Guest-posting simply means posting your ads on other posts that you contribute to in another site. Always be active to engage yourself on other sites that might be promoting different goods or services from yours. Growth in internet marketing, especially on social media, has never been achieved by single efforts. It requires combined efforts to achieve the desired results and making use of traffic created by other is one way to make this happen. It is human nature to return favors. If you contribute positively to promote other people’s promotional activities on their sites, it is almost definite that they will welcome your own promotional activities on their sites. Therefore, never hesitate to use a person’s traffic for your own advantage. 8. Accompany your posts with branded images People readily identify funny or branded images. These are common images that haven used on other sites before and have had a wide range of following. There is not sin in using the same images for your won advantage. On most occasions, social media users will always take a second to glance at an image they have seen before on a different platform. Additionally, they are always more interested in the event that such images are used in a different context or if the images have been altered slightly. Make use of this common practice to lure more and more traffic to your posts, blogs or sites. Most branded images are funny and hilarious. Social media users like funny and hilarious stuff. Give it to them. The trick to winning the hearts of social media users is to give them exactly what they intend to get when they log into their social media accounts. A greater percentage of social media users visit these sites for the purpose of interacting and relaxing their minds. Funny plays pivotal roles of making meeting these desires so do not shy from providing exactly what they need. 9. Make use of info-graphics while making posts or blogs on social media Certainly, promotional information put across in words alone is dull and less likely to draw the much anticipated traffic. Most social media users are more attracted to pictorial information as compared to written information. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you spice up your promotional information with pictures and branded images. Of course this will show your audience how serious you are about making them have an interest in whatever information you are attempting to put across. 10. Link your posts to other controversial blog posts People like controversy. There is nothing as interesting as eliciting engagement on your blog posts as including a little controversy in them. It is always human nature to get involved with controversial things. As a matter of fact, controversies draw so much attention that is incomparable to even religious posts. Take advantage of this human nature and draw traffic to your blogs posts. At the end of the day, a controversy will have attracted traffic to your posts. No one will care what kind of controversy brought potential clients to your site, all they will care about is whether your efforts of drawing traffic bore fruits or not. Controversial blog posts will definitely bring enormous traffic to blog or social media posts and that is the only desired end result. 11. Ask your followers for their suggestions on your products or services and how best they can be improved As a consumer of a particular product or services, nothing is more inspiring that the feeling of having contributed to the betterment of a product or service you are consuming. Return the favor. Ask your social media followers to offer their suggestions and thoughts regarding the quality of service or product you are offering. Additionally, do not forget to seek their ideas on how best the products or services can be improved in order to meet their demands in a better way. You will obviously develop customer loyalty by engaging your followers and seeking their suggestions about the products or services. Customer loyalty is perhaps the single most important aspect for meeting marketing goals. Therefore, never shun away from engaging in any activity that might bring loyal customers to your doorsteps. 12. Use photos that have nothing to do with your products or services but that convey the feeling and attitude behind your brand Always posting pictures of your products and services is okay. However, other social media users might find this monotonous and boring. Why not try something different like posting pictures that have totally nothing to do with the brand you are promoting but instead convey feelings and attitudes of your brand? This has worked for many internet promoters and marketers. For example, Starbucks share photos on Instagram to link their brand with sunshine. Therefore, instead of posting images of their products, they post different images of the sun to associate their brand with brightness, warmth and friendliness. 13. Push your handles widely and to the best of your ability If you are really eager to increase the number of your followers especially on twitter then never be afraid to promote your handle at the slightest opportunity you get. Do not hesitate to be a bit shameless. The goal is to achieve an increased number of followers and so make use of every means possible. It does not matter whether you are making a presentation at a conference or giving a speech. Always remember to tell your audience how they could reach you on social media and this includes providing your name on Facebook and your handle on twitter. This is not enough, give your audience a reason to visit those social media sites and actually have an interest in you and whatever it is that you do. For example, include your social media links and handles in every slide share when giving a presentation at a conference. Additionally, never forget to leave a soft copy of your slide share with your audience. 14. Synchronize all your social media accounts, sites and blogs It is possible to synchronize all your social media sites in such a way that a user that finds you in one of the sites almost automatically finds you in the rest of the sites. This is an important way of increasing following especially in the event that these sites are used for promotional purposes. One some occasions, linked social media sites are able to share information. This is an implication that one is able to post on one social media site and the information relayed automatically to the rest of social media sites liked to that account. Thus, it makes your work easy when writing promotional information that eventually reaches a wide range of audience. Therefore, always make sure to link all your social media sites.

Great! The next thing then is to think about actually setting up your new site and getting started with your content. To do this, you will need to choose a ‘blogging platform’ which effectively dictates how your site’s code will be structured and what you’ll see when you’re logging in and adding content. Now of course, you don’t actually need a ‘blogging platform’ as such. You can go about building your own website from scratch which will involve creating pages in HTML and CSS, possibly using a builder like ‘Dreamweaver’ but if you do this it will take a lot longer and be much harder to create something that looks and performs like a professional website. Instead then, you want to use a blogging platform/CMS. CMS stands for ‘Content Management System’ and is essentially a tool that simplifies the process of designing and building your website, as well as adding and editing content as needed. Use a CMS and you won’t need to know a line of code in order to build the site, to add new posts and to edit your existing content. This of course saves a lot of time, it streamlines the process and it ensures that your site is at least functional. Choosing Your CMS So how do you choose a CMS? The first thing to do is to recognize the difference between hosted and selfhosted options. A hosted option is a blog platform that you use almost like a social network. In other words, you create your account and ‘sign in’ to another website and from there, you’ll then be able to add new posts for other users to see. In other words, the platform and so your website are already hosted somewhere online, meaning you don’t need to pay for a hosting account to get started. Good examples of hosted blogging platforms include BlogSpot (www.blogspot.com), LiveJournal (www.livejournal.com), WordPress Hosted (www.wordpress.com), Wordpress Self-Hosted (www.wordpress.org) and Tumblr (www.tumblr.com). Each of them has strengths and weaknesses, though they all do essentially the same thing. Tumblr here is really the odd one out as it straddles the line between blogging platform and social media platform – and as it mainly focuses on images that you upload as opposed to written content. The great thing about this is that it’s a completely free process and requires absolutely no set-up. You simply visit the blogging platform, be that BlogSpot or WordPress, sign in and then start posting! You can make changes to your blog in terms of the way it looks but you’ll be quite limited in terms of what you can do. Likewise, you’ll also be limited in terms of your URL – meaning that you won’t be able to call your website ‘BodybuildingNewsArticles.com’ – instead your blog will have to be ‘wordpress.bodybuildingnewsarticles.com’ or ‘blogspot.bodybuildingnewsarticles.com’. This of course looks far less professional and it also means your URL is going to be far less catchy and brandable. People will likely not remember your URL and type it back into the address bar – they’ll have to search on Google. And that said, even searching on Google will be harder seeing as it’s not as easy to get hosted websites to ‘rank’. For all these reasons you’re much better off with a self-hosted CMS. This means you’ll need to pay for the hosting space too as well as a domain name. In all, this will likely set you back $100-$500 for the year but if you monetize well you should be able to make that make even in year one. If you plan on becoming a professional blogger, this is really a mandatory expense. When it comes to hosted blogging platform options, you have a few popular options. These include: • WordPress (yes, WordPress is both) • Joomla • Drupal WordPress is available as both a hosted and a self-hosted CMS option. If you go for the hosted option, you will simply need to visit WordPress.com and start an account. If you want to go for a self-hosted choice, you’ll instead want to download the install files from WordPress.com, then upload them to your server. You then navigate to one of the files in your browser and the set-up process begins. Which self-hosted platform should you use? The answer is WordPress by a long shot. The reason for this is partly that WordPress is simply the most popular blogging platform. In turn, this means it also has the widest support. That means that you’ll be able to find plenty of developers to work with who are well-versed in the platform and it means you’ll be able to easily find additional plugins and themes to install to take your site to the next level. We’ll look at what themes and plugins are in a moment but for now all you need to know is that they significantly increase the capabilities of your website and are often free to use. The fact that WordPress began life as a blogging platform also gives it another big advantage. That is that it is highly user friendly and compared with Joomla or Drupal, the control panel is much more accessible and easy to use. But most of all, you should use WordPress because everyone else does… That might sound like a somewhat lame reason but think about it: most of the most successful bloggers on the net use WordPress. Countless people before you have shown that a WordPress website can be incredibly successful… so why then would you use anything else that is much more of an unknown quantity? Why would you take your chances with a more complicated platform? We know that WordPress can be optimized for search engines, we know it can be very well optimized… if you’re serious about making money then it’s the logical choice. And the websites created with it look great. Choosing a Name and URL As you’re going with a self-hosted option for your blog, you’ll now need to choose a URL. This is the address that people will type in their search bar in order to find your website and as such it will probably also act as the title of your website and the brand you’re going with. Choosing your name is another very important step here and there are two big factors to consider when making this decision: • SEO • Branding SEO is search engine optimization – in other words, tweaking your website to ensure that it will likely to rank highly on Google and to show up in searches. Your URL affects your SEO because some URLs are much more ‘searchable’ than others and this will give you an edge over the competition. In other words, if you wanted to rank highly for our earlier example – bodybuilding news articles – then having an address like bodybuildingnewsarticles.com or bodybuilding-news-articles.com would be a great advantage. This won’t guarantee you’ll rank highly mind and those who have done more work at their SEO could still beat you in other ways – it’s just a good head-start and advantage. In terms of branding, you want to choose a URL that is the same as, or similar to, the name of your website. So a business called ‘Spination’ would do very well to get ‘Spination.com’. Again, this isn’t a requirement but it will make several things easier – not to mention promoting your site and making it more memorable. If you don’t have a site name yet, then this is a good time to think about it. Aim for something that’s unique and interesting, catchy and at the same time descriptive. In a perfect scenario your URL will tell people what your site is about without just being a boring description. So in reality, ‘bodybuildingnewsarticles.com’ is a dull URL that’s not great for branding. Much better would be something like BroNews, BBNews or MuscleTalk. This is easier for creating logos, for making an impression and more but it still will give you some SEO benefit and won’t be too obtuse. As for your ‘TLD’ or ‘Top Level Domain’ (the ‘com’ or ‘co.uk’ part), it’s still always preferable to aim for the ‘.com’ if you can. An exception to this is if you’re running a local blog in which case a regional TLD is better. In most cases though, ‘.com’ is the easiest to remember and thus the simplest to promote. Chapter 3: How To Customize Your Blog's Appearance From this point on we shall presume that you are using WordPress. If this is not the case, then most of the following advice will apply but some of the specifics and details may be different. Now that you have your URL and you’ve installed WordPress, you’re ready to start creating. The first thing to do? Think about the design you want to use! But that doesn’t mean your web design. This won’t come until later. Instead, you’re going to focus on your logo first. Why? Because your logo is a crucial part of your branding and chances are that you’re going to want to use a web design heavily inspired by your logo. Your web design will probably use colors from your logo, it will probably use certain visual cues and this will help to create a consistent design language for your entire site. It’s a great starting point and it will make coming up with your design that much easier. Creating a Logo So how do you come up with your logo? The first stage is to recognize what makes a good logo. Critical criteria here then are: • Versatility • Simplicity • Originality • Suitability It needs to be versatile and simple because you’re going to be using this in various different places throughout your online presence. Your logo will go right at the top of your website but it’s also going to go front and center on your Facebook page, it will be right up top on your Twitter page. And if you build an app then it will be there too. We’ll see later how important it is to have a strong presence on social media: and having a great logo will really make a big difference to that and will help to create brand visibility and loyalty. In terms of originality, you need to avoid obvious clichés that are present in too many logos. Ticks, globes and lightbulbs have been done to death and as such you should really avoid these unless you want your website to look like a massive cliché. That said though, don’t go for something so creative that it doesn’t communicate your message at all. Your logo should entirely on its own tell visitors what your site is about and what type of site they’re on. This will tell you whether the logo should be fun, whether it should be professional and whether it should be colorful. To take a look at some logo design samples that meet the criterias described, go to 99designs: https://99designs.com.au/logo-design The Process A great process to go through when creating your logo is to create a mood board. This is essentially a collage where you will place everything that you can think of that you like, that relates to your business and niche and that you might consider emulating. This can be other logos, it can be photos of color palettes or it can be random sketches you’ve made. Create a big enough collection and eventually you should find that some themes and patterns begin to emerge. This way you can then start sketching some ideas, combining elements and trying out different approaches. Some you will like and some you’ll throw out. This spit-balling process though will help to lead you in the right direction. Likewise, it can help to look at the name of your website and brand and to try working with that. Are there any letters that could be morphed into one of your related items? What should the font look like? For text, it’s important to use an interesting font that looks professional. Ideally, you’ll also want to use a font that is unique to you. A good solution here then is to download a custom font from FontSquirrel.com (a great repository of free TTF and OTF files) and then to trace over your company name, making edits as you do to make it original. This way, your font will be unique but at the same time, it will be based on something that looks professional.
