The Joy Of Food PLR Ebook

Sample Content Preview Compare the statistic: 68% are overweight in the US compared with only 9% in Italy, which has one of the greatest cuisines in the world. How is this possible, you might ask? It’s a question of habits and attitudes to food, and what is being eaten - now commonly referred to as the Mediterranean diet. This diet is comprised of small portions of lots of different fresh foods, mainly fruits and vegetables, with small portions a couple of times a week of fish, cheese, poultry and red meat. Their pizza is thin-crust, not deep pan or stuffed, and loaded with vegetables and a small amount of skim milk cheese - not tons of pepperoni with double cheese. Above all, the food is fresh and home cooked, not mass-produced. One of the most common types of emotional eating is stress eating. When the person is under stress, their response is to reach for food almost mindlessly. Of course, all of us lead fairly stressful lives, so you can just imagine how that person can start packing on the pounds in only a short time if they reach for a donut, candy, soda, or other empty calories every time things get tough at work or school. Mindful Mealtimes Most people will agree that they really enjoy food. In particular, a well-prepared meal eaten in a leisurely manner can be one of life's best and even most romantic experiences. Several courses stretching out in a relaxed atmosphere can create an emotional state of happiness, with a focus on savoring the moment as well. Italians eat at the table as a family almost every night and take about two hours to consume their food and wine. Some nations even have a two-hour lunch break so they can go home and eat with their family and even have a "siesta", a little sleep, so they will be refreshed and be able to work well for the rest of the day. It is great to want to get together with family and friends to enjoy a meal, provided it is a healthy one. However, in the US, we tend to overindulge. One study showed that at a Thanksgiving gathering, several people ate more than 1,000 calories in snacks, appetizers and alcohol before they ever even sat down at the table for their dinner. The woman who consumed 1,300 calories to start with ended up eating a total of nearly 5,000 calories in one single meal. Eating 2,000 excess calories equals one pound of weight gain. You have to burn 3,500 to lose one pound. Fortunately, many menus are starting to list calorie counts. Your favorite fast food and family restaurants should also list them at their website, so you can know before you go. You might be surprised to find that what you believe to be healthy, such as the filet of fish sandwich, or a salad, actually has more calories and fat in it than an entire Happy Meal. One other way to make the most of eating out if you do plan to visit a restaurant is to order only dishes that you can’t make yourself. Pasta and egg dishes are all cheap and easy to make, so look for something different. Divide up your meal into one small portion and have your server give you a doggie bag for the rest. Then parcel it up into TV-style dinners for a treat you can enjoy in the future. By eating mindfully, you can save both calories and cash. Once of the nice things about restaurant meals is trying new recipes. But cooking isn’t that hard. Anyone can read a recipe. Let’s look at some of the main benefits of cooking at home in the next section. THE BENEFITS OF COOKING AT HOME There are many benefits to cooking at home rather than eating out or hitting the speed dial button for the local pizzeria yet again. Here are 10 of the main ones. 1. Saving Money This is the main reason to cook at home. You’re in control of what you shop for and spend. Make the most of store sales and coupons. Practice portion control and cook, make and freeze meals so you always have something on hand in case you need "fast food". 2. Knowing Exactly What’s in the Food You’re Eating Cooking yourself from scratch means you always know exactly what’s in the food you’re eating. If anyone in your family has allergies, this can literally be a lifesaver. If you have health issues like high blood pressure or migraine headaches, steering clear of salt and monosodium glutamate (MSG), a common meat tenderizer and flavor enhancer, can help. 3. A Balanced Diet Research has shown that people who cook at home tend to consume fewer calories, fewer carbohydrates, less sugar, and less fat than those who don’t cook. 4. Being an Educated "Consumer" Learning more about food, nutrition and calorie counts with the help of healthy recipes and a good food database will help you eat in a healthier manner. 5. Staying Heart Healthy We are what we eat, so a balanced diet full of nutrients is one of the best ways to stay healthy and slim. Many medical conditions are associated with obesity, including heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and high blood sugar. High blood sugar can lead to insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes can lead to a range of serious health issues, including cardiovascular ones. Cooking yourself can help keep you heart-smart. 6. Slow Food, Not Fast Food Eating more slowly means you will eat less and feel full even on a smaller amount of food. As mentioned earlier, this is because it takes the stomach about 20 minutes to register that it is full. If you’re famished, eat one ounce of nuts 30 minutes before dinner (if you’re not allergic). Studies have shown that the fat and fiber will fill you up and make you feel satisfied on 30% less than the amount of food you usually eat. 7. Go for Filling Foods Low in Calories and Cost Ever notice how stuffed you feel after a restaurant meal in which you started off with soup and a salad? These are cheap foods full of water and fiber. As long as they don’t have a cream base and you don’t use creamy dressing, you can make healthy homemade soups and salads that will make you feel full by the time you ever get to the entrée. Or try the Italian style of eating. Have the salad at the end of the meal - it will stop you from continuing to eat high-calorie foods. It will also make you less likely to crave dessert. 8. Controlled Portions Use a kitchen scale and measuring cups. Look up the caloric and nutritional values of the recipes you make, and divide it up into portions that will suit whatever diet you’re on. 9. Food Safety Foodborne illnesses are everywhere. Keep your kitchen and hands immaculately clean so you and your family can stay safe. 10. Food Freedom If you're cooking at home, you can make it gluten-free, dairy-free, meat-free - it’s up to you! The more you cook, the more practice you get in, and the better your food will be. Some people are born chefs, but with all the free content online at your fingertips, and digital cookbooks available on Amazon, you can start to cook like a pro in no time. Another main reason for cooking at home is all the benefits you get when you cook and eat together as a family. Let’s look at this in more detail in the next section. THE BENEFITS OF COOKING AND EATING TOGETHER AS A FAMILY We are surrounded by people every day, yet it can be hard for some of us to really connect with others. We don’t seem to have time, or we might avoid intimacy because we are not sure how others will react to what we have to say, or we are afraid of being judged. We are also surrounded by gadgets. We eat in front of the TV, at our computer keyboards, and in the car. We also wolf down the food mindlessly, leaving us prone to overeating and emotional eating because we are stressed and bored. It’s not all that long ago that almost every family sat down together at the kitchen or dining room table every night for dinner. Studies have shown that families who eat together, stay together. Mealtimes are about more than just the food. They are about connecting, caring, sharing.

Sample Content Preview Types of Coaching Businesses The ten coaching business ideas are computer/IT, financial, career, parenting, gardening, school (high school and college), cooking, instruments, hone improvement, and sales. Each one is a different type of business, and you may or may not need any special experience to start. You won’t need experience to start the business either, but one thing to note is you must let your potential clients know you are simply coaching and not giving professional advice. If you are a professional, that is great and you will be a step ahead of others coachers out there. But nonetheless, people will seek a non-professional who charges less to give supplemental knowledge to what they already know. Another thing is do not limit your thoughts and beliefs to what is written. You are encouraged to take these types of coaching business ideas and come up with creative ways to start your own business with your skills and expertise. Computer and IT Computers are designed to help you to become more productive. But there are times when they can slow us down. If you are great with computers, you can start a coaching business to help with those pesky issues that get in the way of getting your daily tasks done. Let me walk you through some ideas to get you started with this type of business. If someone has a minor issue and he or she cannot afford to pay a professional, you can charge a lower rate and coach them through the issue from home. Maybe it’s not computer issues that you can help with. There are many new computer programmers out there who may need a little coaching to help them apply what they learned in school to their career. Financial Money management can be very tough for many people. It is very important to have your finances in order so you are prepared for now and your future. You know the saying “save your pennies for a rainy day.” You literally need to save your money so that it works for you and not against you. So many people borrow more than they make in one year. The best way to help anyone is to help them before they get into a financial bind. You are there to help people make sound financial decisions, and coaching will greatly motivate people to take action and be wise with their money. It is heartbreaking to see people when they lose so many things they worked so hard to get. Financial coaching may be the most sought after and necessary business today. When people get into desperate situations they look for someone to help them out. Their reasons for creating this problem are all different, but in this day and age, it is hard to survive on the little income most people make. There are however, ways to manage your money well and live off of the income you have and be in good financial standing. So as a financial coach, you will be giving sound advice and helping people learn how money works. You may also help them grow their wealth and use certain people for your resources such as Warren Buffet, Napoleon Hill, and Dave Ramsey to name a few. These people and more helped many people make their money work for them. Career Coaching Your career is the most important decision you will need to make in life. It will give you income and ultimately help you to decide your best path through life. It is hard for some people to decide which career path will ultimately allow them to live the life they choose. You might believe your dream of becoming a doctor or nurse when you were five years old is the best career choice. When you reach adulthood however, your way of thinking may change significantly. In reality, the best way to choose a career that is most fitting to you is one that reflects the lifestyle you want. There are tests you can take and studies performed that act as a guide and give you advice on a career but, may not be a definite answer. So if you have a lot of knowledge about careers and which ones are ideal for certain personalities, then you can make a nice business reflecting what you know about it to clients. Sometimes it helps if you studied psychology because much of how you match someone up with an ideal career has a lot to do with his or her psyche. Do remember this and all businesses in this article are ones you will not need previous experience to start, but it does require some ability to work well with others. You need to be good with people, understand their concerns, and attract people who are willing to take advice. They should be informed that the final outcome of the coaching sessions is a reflection of their choices. You are only there to help them see things with a different perspective. Parenting Having children is a blessing. Knowing effective ways to parent your children can seem obscure or even a little difficult at times. You will also notice each child is different. The best advice for someone to start a parenting coaching career is to have some background working with children. It is even a good idea to have a degree in child psychology, but not required. Whichever coaching business you decide to start is designed to give people advice and supplemental knowledge. Look for people who are willing to take advice as sometimes giving parenting advice can turn people off. When you get the chance, look up a show called “Nanny 911” and learn from it. These professionals have helped many families get their children on the right track behaviorally. If you notice, a lot of it has to do with the parent changing the ways they believe they should discipline their children. Success only comes from taking the advice the nannies give and working with their children in a consistent manner. So if you feel you have what it takes and love working with children and are good at helping other see things from a different view, then this can be a very rewarding business choice. Remember the world needs people who are willing to help others in need.

Information Marketing Business PLR Ebook

Sample Content Preview Reasons you need to use Information Marketing It does take time to create a product and then sell it. However, you have the ability inside to create the product you want and put a unique touch on it. So what I mean is everyone can sell a bell pepper kit. All they have to do is put it on an auction site, or Amazon and hope that people find them. Since this is what most people think works, you have to take more steps to get better results. To stand out from the rest, always go above and beyond what most people do. This is where the most successful people see the best results. Do not just put a product for sale on an auction site, or your own site, but talk about that product by writing an article. Use the information you gathered from your research and your own experiments to create your article. Then, post to different article sites. Also, create a Press Release (PR) about the product as well and send that to a PR site. Always backlink to your blog or website to drive in traffic and this is where you will have a major advantage over other marketers. Less Face-to-Face Interaction with a Buyer is Convenient In today’s economy, many people will rather shop online. Sometimes they will find an item they want, but if they had to travel to get the item, it could be too far away. Say you are writing a book about a topic of interest. With the invention of the Amazon Kindle, people like that they can download a digital copy and not have to go to a brick and mortar store. There are some people who still prefer a paper copy of the book, but I am just focusing on the people who want digital books. People may have questions about your book, so if they ask, be ready to answer. But for the most part, if you have a great description and you make people want to buy it, then you won’t have the need to interact face-to-face with people. This is great if you are not the most people friendly. When they buy your digital book, they can download it, and keep in on their eBook reader or computer. They have the book when they want it and need it and do not have to go searching for it. This makes them happy as well as you. You are then automating your business, and doing less work, which is what you want to do. Hiring Staff Members This is something that can be completely optional. When you are starting out, you can do the entire customer service and selling yourself. It is a good idea to get some freelancers involved to help you with the marketing material, because most people who want to start a business online do not always have the expertise in how to write the information to sell the products. That does not mean they can’t sell a product. Something in this world that will never die out is the need to have more than one person involved to help you sell something, but you don’t need to hire employees and open an office and have all the expenses related to that. You can simply hire people when you need them. This is why the Internet is one of the best inventions. Investment is Minimal You may have to make a small investment to start up your Information Business. This includes a website and hosting, or the investment on getting writers for your articles. You may also need the supplies if you are selling physical goods as well. Keep all this in mind. If you are an affiliate marketer however you won’t need to invest that much money into the business. There are times when you won’t need to invest any money at all; just your time. You can also purchase your information. Be cautious with this however, because if you purchased it, there is most likely other people who purchased it. Look it over, edit it, spin it, and then post it to your site. Make sure it is Copyscape approved! That way, you can’t get in trouble because you have the same exact content as someone else. Customer Service There will be times that you need to attend to a customer’s concerns or questions. Always be on the lookout for this. Never take too long to talk to someone and NEVER make excuses. There was a time I needed service for a digital product I purchased. The only thing they had was support desk software. That is fine, but when someone needs help that day and wants to resolve it then and there, make sure you are able to accommodate them. When I wasn’t able to get the problem I had with my digital product resolved the day I was inquiring, and it took more than five days to even get someone to tell you there was nothing wrong with the product but something was wrong with the website, it was annoying. Never make excuses if you can’t get back to someone as soon as they need. For instance, never tell someone that you have other customers to attend to. They know that. Try and make the service personable as if you are really trying to help them. If you can’t respond quickly enough to a person’s request, then you will need to change your response method. One thing you can do is create an instant message system on your site. That way, the person that needs help can get what they need much faster because the problem is being resolved then and there. You will always have a better response from customers when that happens. Make a customer feel first, even if you can’t; so never make excuses. Don’t tell them you have hundreds of customers as it sounds boastful and like they are less important. Profit Potential One of the most rewarding experiences of Information Marketing is the profit potential. You aren’t just talking about profit; you are talking about a larger amount of it. The reason you can get a larger amount of profit is because of all the research you have done. You not only researched the product you are selling, but also who your potential customers are. In your findings, you will see what people want to buy the most. Knowing this and presenting the information in a compelling way will sell a product more times than not doing the research and presenting a product in a way that someone has already done. The more interesting you make your product to your potential and even repeat customers, the more they will come back to you, thus increasing your profit! Give a visual presentation Remember, many people are visual learners. They have to see something in a picture or video to understand it better. When presenting a product, or even an idea, produce a picture of it that is of high quality and easy to look at. If you are selling an idea, you will need to be a little more creative. If you notice on ehow.com, people present “how to do something” with pictures. This is also great because you may use terms that people are unfamiliar with. This is a great way to show them what you mean instead of just telling them. Video marketing is very popular as well, so if you can incorporate a video presentation for your product or service, you have a better chance at selling it. When I go to JV Zoo or Clickbank, I like to view a product’s site with a video instead of just reading a long sales letter. I believe sales letters will be things of the past pretty soon. It’s not to say they don’t work today, but one thing to keep in mind is don’t make it too long. More and more people will buy something if they see an example of it in a video presentation. Make it interesting, be enthusiastic, and give it some flair. I will touch more on videos later in this article, but keep what I said in mind. Use Certain Types of Graphics One very popular type of graphic is an infographic. This type of graphic gives the reader a bunch of specific information in a very colorful way. I understand that you may not be the best at making the graphics, so this is a time when you will need to make a small investment. Other than that, if you want to try to make the graphic yourself, do some research on which colors work best.

Webinar Selling Template Guide Personal Use Ebook

Sample Content Preview #4: You Speed Up Their Buying Cycle To be most effective, your webinar content will be targeted toward a specific group of people at specific stage in their buying cycle. That means tailoring your content to that stage in their cycle. For example, for consumers who are at the end of their research stage and are ready to make a decision, a demonstration webinar or an event that highlights the advantages of your products or services will be the content they need to make a buying decision. A webinar can step in and help transition prospects through your funnel faster. Webinars are an effective marketing tool when they focus on providing your attendees an exceptional experience. They leave the event not only excited about your company products or services, but also motivated to continue moving forward with your business and taking the next steps. There are several reasons why business owners feel that webinars are good selling tools. Once you have a system, they’re fairly easy to set up. They don’t cost much to put on. They leave you feeling excited about your prospects and customers – it’s truly rewarding to connect with your audience and to help them solve their problems. It’s fun to leave your audience excited about the solution you’re providing and of course it’s pretty darn exciting to see those profits start rolling in as sales are made. Of course, the better your webinar and your systems, the more you’re going to sell so let’s move forward and talk about the best practices you can leverage for the most success. Best Practices for Selling from A Webinar #1: A Well-Defined Product Your webinar content needs to naturally flow to the sale of a product or service. So, before you can create the webinar content, it’s a good idea to define the product or service you’re going to pitch. The key to providing more engaging, interactive webinars is to allow attendees to “personalize” their user experience. From within the webcast, viewers should be able to open and close information panels, access social media, respond to polls/surveys, view complementary resources, and network #2: More Audience Interaction Means More Sales It’s easy to create a webinar with content that solves a problem and leads to a solution, which you then make available to your audience for purchase. However, if content is all one sided, you’ll have participants that start multi-tasking and not paying attention. You can lose them. Webinars needs to provide interactive features to keep your viewers’ attention and discourage them from leaving or losing attention. #3: Be Transparent Your audience expects that you’re going to pitch a product or service. Don’t try to hide that. Be completely transparent and embrace your pitch. It shouldn’t be a hard sell but you’re probably giving them a special promotional offer and you’re proud of your product or service so pitch with pride. #4: Leverage a Solid Webinar Structure Generally, people front-load their webinar. They talk and then at the end they pitch. Instead, consider this format: Position the heaviest, most valuable, content up font – to get people engaged right away and for those who have limited time to spend with you. Add mini-pitches throughout. Find a few spots in the middle where you can gently pitch to attendees. Again, this helps you grab people if they have to leave early and it may get some sales rolling in before the end of the webinar. Make your big offer at the end. It’s okay to be direct with your call to action. As mentioned, your attendees are expecting it and if your content has done its job, then they are looking for it. Finally, make sure that you use good technology and that you’ve conducted a run through prior to going live. The more professional your webinar, the better your sales will be. Speaking of sales, let’s talk about one of the best ways to build a large attendance for your webinar. We’re talking about recruiting your affiliates to host your webinar. Tips for Recruiting Affiliates to Host Your Webinar Your affiliate team can play a significant role in promoting your webinar. They key is to get them involved, engaged, and to add more affiliates to your team. The following 5 tips will help you recruit affiliates to host your webinar and they'll be motivated and excited too. 1. Show them the money. For your first webinar, you won’t have actual sales figures to share. However, you can share the potential sales figures with them. Affiliates are motivated by a few key things and one of those is of course commissions and cash. 2. Explain the value to their audience. Talk about the problem your webinar solves and why this is such a value to their audience. 3. Give them access. You might give your affiliates access to some of the content and downloads you’ll be sharing during the webinar. By sharing some of the content, you’re giving potential affiliates insight to the value as well as some content to market the webinar. 4. Support their success. Tell them what you’ll provide. If you’ll give your affiliates pre-written marketing content to promote the webinar they may be more motivated. 5. Send a personal invitation. Reach out to your affiliates and audience personally and invite them to promote the webinar. You know the importance of doing so. Online predators are out there and they are readily stalking even the youngest of children that venture onto the web. Using parental controls allows you to keep control of the situation so that you can make decisions for your child that will ultimately help them deal with what happens online. What Can Be Done? Each internet service provider will have their own different set of parental controls that you can use. The first thing that you will need to do is to find out what types of software are being offered to you through your provider. If you do find that these parental controls are not enough to really protect your child, you can find others available to you to purchase. Before you make that investment, remember that some internet service providers do provide this, or at least some parental controls, with their service to you. There are many different options that you can use. Here are a few of the services that are available. • Monitor who can send your child email. • Monitor who your child can send emails to, as well. • Determine who can send instant messages to your child or who your child can chat with in 4 INSTILLING THE RIGHT VALUES chat rooms. Limit them by name or age, or just allow certain ones. • Monitor the time that they are online. Set a timer for each visit as to how much time they can be online each time they come onto the web. • Determine which websites your child can go to as well as what type of website it is. Some limit the child to only those websites that are approved by you. There are other services that you can use when it comes to parental controls. There is no doubt that you’ll be able to find the right type of control for your needs either with your current internet service provider or with additional software that you purchase. The goal here is to find the product that offers you the overall best solution and protection for your child. This isn’t the type of thing that you should put aside and do later. With parental controls, you stay in control of what your child does online as well as what how long they are online in the first place. One of the tools that many internet service providers provide to you is that of an online timer. This timer is a tool that you should consider for a number of reasons. In many cases, it is a helpful tool that monitors how long your child has been online as well as enforces the limit that you place on that amount of time. You make the decisions and you get to keep those rules going, too. Face it. You simply can not monitor your teen online all day every day. If you aren’t home and they are online, they may be there the entire time. The internet is full of things to do, websites to visit and lots of people to interact with. It can become a very easy way to push away the time without even knowing that you are doing it. The internet does draw in children of all ages, but remember, your parental controls are in place to help provide you with the protection you need. An online timer is a simple enough program. All you need to do is to simply tell it just how long you will allow your child to be online. There are several types of settings that you can select from, in most cases. You can choose to limit how much time your child goes online each time they do get online. Or, you can determine how many hours they can be online for each day and limit them. In addition, you can even limit how many times they can be online during the course of a week, if you like. You can limit the number of times that your child can get on the web as well as how long they are allowed to stay there. You determine how much time your child gets online. Once you set this number, when their time is up, the software or internet service provider tells them so. If they don’t sign off themselves, the provider will do it for them, helping you to enforce the rules that you’ve set in place. In most cases, this is a free service as part of the software you purchased. If it isn’t provided, then get it and start giving yourself an extra hand of protection even when you are not home. Service Provider Did you know that kids are crafty creatures? You may think you have them protected online with the use of parental controls. You’ve done a good job at making sure that the controls are fair but that they are in place to help your child to do well throughout their time online. Most importantly, you believe your child is safe now that they are online and using the web. The problem is that your child may know a way to getting around those controls and therefore may be able to actually avoid doing so. How Your Child Can Get Around Your Control Teens are especially crafty, but don’t put it past your older child to do this as well. The fact is that children learn things about how to do what they want to do online whether its at school or just through friends. It happens and you shouldn’t believe your child is protected when he or she may not be. What happens is simple. While your parental controls may work for your internet service provider, you child may be using another software that’s already installed 5 INSTILLING THE RIGHT VALUES on your computer to get around them. What’s more is that their other electronic software may also contain the ability to get online without you even realizing it. Such programs as Internet Explorer, Netscape and others are one of the easiest ways to get around parental controls. Other elements such as instant messaging that is done outside of the internet service provider, such as with a different program, chat rooms, forums and even file sharing programs are out there. What’s more is that their handheld gaming systems are now able to get online in some cases. There Is Hope, Though The good news is that there are parental control products on the market that can still protect you from many of these services. The first thing to do is to learn what opportunities your child has to get online around your internet service provider. Find out how they are getting online simply by watching or talking to them. Then, look for the right product on the market that will help you to limit their access to the internet across all boards. You may be one of the lucky ones that has an internet service provider that actually provides this type of protection to your child through their service. If not, find out how these parental controls work and use them. Should I Create A Screen Name For My Child? Considering parental controls for your child is something all parents today that have a computer within their home should do. Here’s why. Your child gets online and visits with a simple and seemingly safe online environment such as a chat room or a message board. They begin communicating with people from in their neighborhood or around the world. But, although they are just talking and being innocent, the other person that they could be talking to is nothing like what they seem. They could be a predator. Or, they could be another kid just like your own. The problem is that there is no way of knowing who they are. The problem with using parent controls for your child on your own screen name means that you’ll have to implement those controls on yourself. This is difficult to do since most adults don’t want to be limited in where they go and what they do. That’s fine because many internet service providers actually allow you to create additional screen names that fit under your account. In most cases, different levels of protection are available so that you can select the one that’s right for your child. You can set your child’s parental control levels appropriately to allow them to do age appropriate things that they want to do and still have some control over the situation. But, to make this work, you have to communicate them. Communicat e Your Needs The first thing that you should do before ever allowing your child to get online, is talk to them about the risks. If you taught your child never to talk to strangers when walking home from school and to hold an adults hand to cross the street, then you need to help them to understand the reasons why they need to be protected online as well. Simply educating them about what the risks are will provide a level of protection to your child in and of itself. But, it is up to you to make this happen for your child. Talk to your child about internet predators. Inform your child how easy it is for an adult to pretend to be another kid. They often spend hours studying how to do this, in fact, so that they are knowledgeable of the latest trends. The end result is that your child really does believe there is another child on the other end of that instant message and they are more than willing to tell that child anything they need to know. Talk to your child about What information shouldn’t be given over the internet such as last names, addresses, and phone numbers. • Tell your child never to talk about the specific school that they go to • Talk to your child about the appropriate and inappropriate subjects that should be talked about online • Inform your child how to react and what to do when they don’t feel comfortable anymore. Make sure they know that you won’t be mad at them. Talk to them about parental controls that are a tool you’ll be using to protect them, not to limit them. These are just a few of the very important things you need to talk to your child about in regards to getting on the web. Most children today are educated enough in computer lingo and methods to be able to get around some of the controls you put in place. For that reason, educating your child to the “why” is essential to their well being. Again, if you taught your child to never talk to strangers, you need to help them realize that the web is full of strangers. Different Levels Of Protection With parental controls, you have the ability to keep your child safe online. These tools keep a watchful eye on your child while they are online and doing the things that they want to do there. The good news is that thee are many levels of protection in place for you to use. That means that you’ll be able to successfully implement the right level of control for your child, instead of just restricting them completely. With a good internet service provider ’s parental controls, or outside software that you purchase, you can keep your child safe but still provide them with the ability to do what they need online. What Levels Are Out There? It’s important to realize that there are different levels of parental controls available to you. You’ll find a number of different ways to protect your child at different age levels or different skill levels. Here are a few options that may be available to you. • General: This type of parental control is not limiting. It is the standard service that you, as an adult would use. It allows for free access to the internet without any restrictions in place. • Teens: The next level down is that that may be more appropriate for a teenager. It restricts various elements but it does allow them to visit more freely online. It helps to control such things as pornographic websites and other potentially threatening situations. • Young Teens: With a bit more protection, your pre teen or young teenager can have more access to the things that they want to do but still be protected from chat rooms that are not child specific. • Kids: The lowest levels of protection come into play for those under the pre teen years. Many of the parental controls at this level protect your child from moving outside the designated areas for them. Many internet service providers offer unique online experiences geared towards these children that is completely kid only. Parental controls are up to you to select. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that your child will be happy with a kid’s only area if they are a young teen. The good news is that you can find the right solution for your child and have a successful online experience that’s safe, too. One of the first question that you as a parent needs to ask about parental controls is just what do they limit and how do they do just that. There are many different ways that predators can come into contact with your child. You need to use parental controls as well as education to help protect them from all areas in which they are vulnerable. Think of it in other instances. You probably taught your child a secret, family password that was put in place to allow an adult other than you to pick up your child with. But, that level of protection doesn’t protect them from strangers that approach them walking home from school. Parental controls must cover all areas of vulnerability. Areas Your Child Needs Protection Here are a few of the most important ways that you need to protect your child when they are online. Remember, this isn’t everything and with new technologies as well as new ways to meet others online happening every day, you still need to monitor other areas as well. • Chatting: Chat rooms are a common thing online. There are those chat rooms set up for children as young as ten to talk about games and school. Your parental controls should allow for some protection from chat rooms that aren’t approved by you or aren’t known to be kid safe areas. • Email: Email addresses can easily be obtained. It only takes the right words in an e-mail’s subject line to get your child to open on the email and get into trouble. Parental controls can limit who can send email to your child. • The Web: The web browsing abilities that your child has are also important. Parental controls must protect your child from visiting websites that are not appropriate or ones that you specifically block. • Instant Messaging or IM’s: One of the most common ways to chat online today is through 18 instant messaging. It’s private and easy to use. Parental controls can help block unwanted individuals from chatting with your child. All of these parental controls can be adjusted to fit your child’s needs, age and your preferences. Consider limiting all of the options to fit your child. When you implement these parental controls, you help to protect your child when they are doing the things they want and need to do online. Online Activity Reports Does your internet service provider help you to set up what are called online activity reports for your child when they are online? Parental controls are things you should consider using. They will help your child to stay safe when they are online and they definitely will help you to know what your child is up to when they are online. Although you may think you are spying on your child, you are ultimately just protecting them from all that is potentially lurking on the web that could threaten them.

Table of Contents Chapter 1: Heart and Soul Query 3 Choose Wisely Chapter 2: Preparation 3 Get Ready Chapter 3: Training 4 Get Schooled Chapter 4: Commit Beforehand 5 Decide Chapter 5: What Bravery Does For You 5 Advantages Wrapping Up 6 Sample Content Preview Chapter 1: Heart and Soul Query If you take a minute to design your day, write up your to-do list, or consider what action to choose next, stop and inquire, “Where is the course with a heart and soul?” This is potent as it will help you right away dispose of the choices that don’t have a heart and soul. Choose Wisely If you’re sitting at home, attempting to determine how to spend your night, ask yourself the heart and soul question. Observe how particular options feel hardhearted and void, while other courses bring about a tingle of fervor when you think about them. Let your heart and soul help you discover the correct course. Take note that the word courage is in the word encouragement. Once we identify the course with a heart and soul, we feel boosted to get moving. Maybe rather than watching TV, you’re boosted to read something that makes you fell good. Perhaps rather than playing PC games, you’re boosted to have a rich conversation with your partner about the future of your love and life. And perhaps rather than simply going through the motions at your job, you’re boosted to press yourself to make the most beneficial contribution you are able to. The heart centered option leads you to the course of conscious development. I frequently ask myself this question when choosing which content to write next. Due to the ceaseless influx of reviewer propositions, as well as my own development experiments, I never have a deficit of ideas, but it may be backbreaking to pick out a subject as there are so many great ones to think about. Once I stop and inquire: Where is the course with a heart and soul? The correct topic commonly becomes clean-cut. It’s the matter that frightens me a bit, the one I’m not certain I can write on well, the one that excites my soul. On those occasions when the subject doesn’t get clean-cut, it’s because the heart-centered course calls for doing something; different than a piece of writing. Post the heart and soul question in a position where you’ll see it day- after-day, or set it as your PC’s screen saver, so you will be reminded of it a great deal. If you ask the question, you bring your system of logic and intuition into alignment. Chapter 2: Preparation You are able to utilize the same grooming idea from that was discussed earlier in this series to step by step build your bravery. Rather than tackling your greatest concern straight off, face up to your smallest concerns first, and progressively work up to more important acts of bravery. Get Ready First of all, pick out a concern you’d like to overpower. It’s all right if it’s too large for you to take on straight off. Now see if you are able to distinguish one little step you may take to face up to that fear, something that may be a reasonably modest challenge for you but that would still spark off some type of change. For instance, if you’re afraid to start up a conversation with someone you don’t know, your foremost goal may be to walk past an unknown person and grin. If that still feels too hard, begin with a simpler goal, like making eye contact with an unknown person for one minute. Discipline yourself with your beginning baby step till you feel geared up to increase the hurdle. There’s no particular number of repetitions you have to finish for every step, but 5 to 10 is a great approximate range. Imagine you get the hang of making eye contact with unknown people, being able to control it for one full second without glancing away. You might feel a little nervous about it at the start, but after 10 repetitions, you are able to do it again and again. Then step-up the challenge to 2 or 3 moments. When you’ve surmounted that, you might wish to advance to grinning. Following, try grinning and saying hello. Inside a matter of weeks, you are able to slowly work up to beginning a conversation with a total unknown person. Every baby step builds up your experience, letting you gradually advance from beginner to expert without feeling overpowered. Make every training step as little as you wish. Confront modest challenges that you’re reasonably confident you are able to finish. Feel free to duplicate as many repetitions as you indigence to till you feel prepared for the following step. You command the tempo. By abiding by this preparation procedure, you’ll achieve deuce things. First of all, you’ll quit reinforcing the dreadful avoidance patterns you demonstrated in the past. Secondly, you will condition yourself to behave more bravely in future spots. Your dread will diminish while your bravery grows. Chapter 3: Training Among the biggest fears is that of the unidentified. Get Schooled The fear of the unknown may be relieved by accumulating supplementary knowledge. Facing up to fears head-on give the sack be helpful, however if your anxiousness is for the most part due to ignorance or lack of experience, you might be able to cut back or eliminate it merely by schooling yourself. Imagine you’re afraid to go out of your hometown and move to a different city, even though you would love to undergo the experience. Perhaps the primary reason for your hesitancy is ignorance. The whole feeling seems overpowering as you don’t know what will happen. But you are able to learn what you have to know by studying sites, linking up with residents of other places, and taking little jaunts. The knowledge you learn will help you behave more bravely and in addition to that more intelligently. It’s awe-inspiring how many opportunities we deny ourselves due to deficiency of knowledge or experience. In this prosperous information age, “I don’t know” is plainly not a valid rationalization. All the data you require is readily accessible on the Net, in cheap books, or in others brains. If ignorance is restraining you in any field of your life, then take the first step and train yourself.

How Does One Get Started With Yoga? Sample Content Preview Mental health Let us first begin with the benefits of Yoga on mental health. After all, good mental health is of paramount importance for being healthy physically as well. As advised above, breathing technique forms an integral part of Yoga. Do I hear you asking ‘how?’It really is very basic - by breathing deep and right, something that you would be doing when you practice Yoga, you are inhaling more oxygen and allowing the cells of your body to have access to that oxygen for a longer period of time. A common practice in yoga is to breathe only from one nostril at a time, while holding the other one closed with the tip of your finger. Medical research has shown that this boosts increased activity of the opposite side of the brain, leading to better cognitive performance and tasks associated with the other side of the brain. Regular yoga practice helps children with attention deficit disorder and people suffering from anxiety, depression and mood swings. It also helps keep the mind calm and reduce stress and thereby increase the general well-being of the person. Strength Ever wondered, why so many of us, after a hard day’s work, come and plonk ourselves, on our home sofas, with very little energy to even fetch a glass of water for ourselves. This is caused by lack of inner strength. Certain asanas of the yoga help generate inner strength. Inner strength is essential in doing day to day activities and in preventing you from injuries. This is especially useful, as we grow old and need more energy and strength to do the same activity. Flexibility The popular notion that you need to be flexible in order to do yoga is incorrect; it is really the other way round - you should do yoga so that you can be more flexible. If you have a flexible body, you find it easy to do tasks. A lot of poses in Yoga concentrate on stretching and improving your flexibility. With yoga, not only the muscles of the body, but also the softer tissues of your body are worked out, resulting in less build-up of the lactic acid, which is responsible for stiffness in various parts of the body. Yoga increases a range of motions of the less used inner muscles and helps in lubrication of joints. The result is a more flexible body, able to perform tasks easily! Cardiovascular Yoga has a lot of positive effects on the cardiovascular system of our body. A healthy cardiovascular system is responsible for preventing heart attacks, strokes and hypertension. Heart disease is a problem which has roots in an improper lifestyle, faulty diet and negative thinking. Our thoughts, emotions and feelings affect our body and negative emotions/thoughts send a series of complex and unhealthy chemical processes throughout the body, giving alarms that something is amiss. Yoga tends to control these by bringing in fresh life-giving oxygen. The anti-oxidant properties of Yoga help in preventing the negative emotions and promote a general well-being in the body. Joint pain and arthritis The general tendency of people suffering from joint pain, inflammation and stiffness is to avoid exercise. Yoga helps prevent advancement of this malady by toning the muscles and loosening the joints. When a person suffering from joint pain practices yoga, the gentle stretching and strengthening movements of the various Yogic poses, improves the blood flow to the muscles and tissues supporting the joints, thereby making it more comfortable to move. Respiratory problems Practice of certain asanas of Yoga has helped check chronic cases of Asthma and other respiratory problems. When the nasal passages get inflamed, they start producing mucous in excess making it difficult to breathe and often have common symptoms like coughing, wheezing etc. Respiratory problems could also be caused by multiple factors like allergy, exercise, weather change etc. By practicing yoga, the lungs capacities increase and so does stamina and stress on air passages is reduced. Back painYoga has helped innumerable cases of back ache. Back ache is caused due to stress and tension in the muscles supporting the spinal cord. Back ache may be caused due to improper postures mild injuries, which have been left untreated etc. Yoga has seemed to help cases of back pain by enhancing flexibility and strengthening the muscle groups supporting the spine, helping the body to maintain an upright posture. It eases the back pain by increase in blood circulation and getting healing nutrients to the injured muscles. Apart from healing injured muscles, it also prevents further injuries by strengthening the muscles. Memory Improvement “Memory is the measure of ability to reproduce the knowledge that is known”, says Yogacharya Vishwas. “Memory is holding on to that which has been known.”- The Hindu Texts. Yoga helps in retaining information better and for a longer period of time due to its focus on concentration and meditation. By breathing right, concentrating and meditating, more blood flows to the brain , making it supple and ready to accept more information and reproduce that information when required. Obesity Obesity is when a person weighs more than his normal/ stipulated weight. This may be caused due to faulty eating habits, stress related eating, imbalances in the digestive and endocrine system or even something as basic as less physical exercise. Yoga helps obesity by inhaling more oxygen, which helps in breaking down fat cells and increasing your metabolism. Also, it helps remove sluggishness from the digestive and endocrine systems, making them work better. Anti-Ageing Regular practice of yoga has anti ageing effects. Yoga revitalizes the mind and makes the approach towards life positive and stress free. Apart from this, a person practicing yoga regularly is more flexible, fit and mentally agile. Overall happiness and positive attitude towards life reflects on the face , leaving it glowing and reverses the ageing effect internally. The importance of yoga in today’s world has a whole lot of other everyday benefits such as sound and deep sleep, high energy levels etc. However, the key to deriving these benefits is to be consistent with Yogic practices and do it under the supervision of a welltrained yoga teacher. CHAPTER 2- WEIGHT LOSS WITH YOGA In today’s society, obesity is a cause for concern with even children that are overweight. Apart from eating healthy, it is worth looking at the importance of yoga and weight loss. Weight gain is not only about the number of calories taken in. There are other underlying causes in the body that will result to weight gain if they become unbalanced. The use of yoga posture can be very helpful in redressing this balance hence helping the body to burn fat more effectively resulting in healthy weight loss. Some vital functions of the body that can be improved by yoga and help promote weight loss: The liver The liver is the body’s own detoxifying machine. A healthy liver works effectively to cleanse the blood of bad fat and helps the blood make use the good fat. Certain yoga postures help increase the functions of the liver. A healthy liver will remove bad fat effectively. Yoga postures like cobra pose and bow pose can be used. The thyroid gland Yoga and weight loss program can also involve poses that stimulate the thyroid gland. The hormone that governs the body’s metabolism is in the thyroid. How high or low a body’s metabolism is depends on how active the thyroid is. Most weight gain issues are due to hypothyroidism meaning low thyroid activity. Activating the thyroid function by using postures like fish pose and shoulder stand will help greatly towards weight loss. The nervous system It is not necessary to attend a hot yoga class to generate body heat. Internal heat is created in the body using nerve tension heat and length. This internal heat can burn deep and low seated fat. This can be achieved using the lunge and the seated forward bend.

While you may think you are unskilled, maybe the fact that you are an articulate communicator and good cook will help you get the job of food demonstrator at the local supermarket. Or maybe the fact that you're a safe driver will get you a job as a van driver for senior citizens. Or maybe your past firearms experience combined with a good driving record will get you a job as an armored car driver. Copyright 2016, by Patrick Taylor Page 14 of 47 https://www.GetaGreatJobFast.com If you want to beef this section up a little, why not ask some of your family and friends what they think your skills and attributes are? You may be surprised to know how others see you, and what gifts and talents they see in your life that you may overlook and take for granted every day. And I promise that when your family and friends identify your gifts to you, it will give you the warm fuzzies, lift your spirits, and make you realize that you are a special person with an array of talents unique to you! 3) List ALL of your formal training. And I do mean ALL! Of course, any college classes (even if you didn't graduate). List the school, the address of the school, the classes you took, the dates of enrollment, your GPA. List any vocational or trade schools. List any training you had during previous jobs. Did you get forklift training? CPR? First aid? Management training? Sales training? If you sat in a seminar for an afternoon, list the training! 4) Make a list of your major accomplishments at previous jobs. Did you come up with a procedure to save your employer thousands of dollars per year? Whatever big landmarks you remember from your career, write them down. One thing that made a potential employer raise his eyebrows was the fact that I turned junk faxes into a profit center for a past employer. I started billing people for sending us unsolicited faxes. I did. I made up a standard invoice and when I received a junk fax, I'd turn around and fax an invoice to the sender. I was making $125 per week and reducing the number of junk faxes we received for an investment of fifteen minutes every morning. Don't sell yourself short. 5) List all of your volunteer positions. This is very important. And it may be a key to your next job. If you do something without compensation, maybe it's your passion. Wouldn't it be great to get paid for doing something you love doing anyway? 6) If you don't have them already, I want you to contact some of your past employers and ask if they will give you a letter of reference. (It helps if you left your previous employment on good terms… Never burn bridges if you can help it.) In the future, be sure to get a letter of reference from every employer. Even if the job is temporary. And get letters from executives in your volunteer positions. This exercise will take a couple of days. As you think about it, you'll remember more things to add to the list. As you take a shower, cook dinner, or watch the news you'll Copyright 2016, by Patrick Taylor Page 15 of 47 https://www.GetaGreatJobFast.com think of more items to add to your list. Keep your list handy at all times and add items as you think of them. In two days, you'll have a pretty substantial list of experience, skills, and achievements. This is the basis from which you'll write your astounding resume. Determine Your Target Okay, now you need to know what you want to do. What sort of job do you want? Do you want to work with your hands? Talk on the phone? Drive? Walk pets? Are you an administrator, a sales rep, a white collar worker, or blue collar worker? A professional? A tradesman? Are you looking for a completely new field? Do you want to stay in your old field? What would you like to do? What are you qualified to do? If you're unemployed, maybe you can take advantage of a bad situation and use it as an opportunity to find a more rewarding job, or a job that pays more, or a job with more potential for advancement. However, you have to have some sort of realistic, specific target for employment. The reason this is important is because you're competing with others for a shrinking number of jobs. When you put together your killer resume, you're going to show your qualifications and why you're the candidate for the employer to hire for that position. In 1982, I walked into Harrah's Hotel and Casino in Lake Tahoe, filled out an application, and took it to the Human Resources window. The clerk looked it over and said, "Come in at 3:00 pm and we'll get you your uniform. You can start at 5:00 pm." That's not how it works today. We're going to be putting a resume and marketing plan together for you, but in order to do this we're going to need a target. You can't be like the kid who shoots an arrow into the forest, and then walks up to the tree where the arrow stuck with a red marker and draws a bull's eye. When I lived in Lake Tahoe I took skiing lessons. Copyright 2016, by Patrick Taylor Page 16 of 47 https://www.GetaGreatJobFast.com On my first lesson, we were on a little incline and the instructor taught us the first step in turning. It wasn't a complicated thing. You didn't need to be a great athlete to accomplish this. He simply said, "Look toward me." And when we looked toward the instructor, we headed right toward him. Worked every time. So, what I'm telling you here is to set a goal and look toward it. Determine the job you want to go after. Look toward it, and you will automatically begin to gravitate toward it. That job may be a specific type of work. Or maybe your goal is geographic. Maybe your goal is to work within walking distance of your home. However, even if your goal is geographic, you still need to determine which ones you're qualified to pursue. When I decided I wanted a job close to my home, I drove around within a mile of my residence and considered what I could do. I saw a sign bolted to the fence of a school bus terminal and thought, "I'm a good driver, no accidents, I've driven some big trucks before. I'll get a new skill, expand my opportunities. Maybe this would be fun." Well, I don't know about the "fun" part, but I now have a Class B license with passenger and school bus endorsements, and I made some money. Whatever the case, you need to establish a goal. Set your sights. And go after it. Consider your skills and experience, check out the help wanted ads in the newspaper, cruise around Monster.com and CareerBuilder.com. And determine two or three potential job directions. While you're on Monster and CareerBuilder I want you to enter keywords to search for the type of job you're interested in. Then examine the results that pop up based on your keywords. Look at the job descriptions. Note what sort of education, training, and experience the employers are looking for. And look at the other job suggestions the job boards return based on your input. What I mean here is that if you enter "Electrician" into the job keyword search, you'll get returns for "Electrician," but you might also see jobs for "Electrical Engineer," "Lineman," "Utility Worker," and other related fields. While they may not all be applicable, don't ignore them. Once, I was looking for a job as an "Administrative Assistant." That's what I did, right? I had administrative skills. I was an assistant to the president of the Board of Directors. Copyright 2016, by Patrick Taylor Page 17 of 47 https://www.GetaGreatJobFast.com So, I was setting up my account on Monster.com and looking at what was available in my area for administrative assistants, and as I did a particular job caught my eye. The title was "Executive Assistant" and it paid about $10,000 per year more than the jobs I was looking at under the "Administrative Assistant" title. I read the job description, and I fit the job description perfectly. And that's when the light bulb went off in my head. The difference in salary between the two was $10,000 to $15,000 (or even more) per year and it was just a matter of what you called yourself. If you're into administration, you could also look under the title "personal assistant." This requires a higher level of skill and availability. Starting salaries here are in the $60,000 range. I set up my resume on Monster.com as an "Executive Assistant." I looked up the duties in several job postings and made sure my resume addressed each point. In a few weeks, I received a call. I had an interview, got a job offer, and began work the next week at a starting salary of $40,000! The salaries for the generic "Administrative Assistant" were in the $28,000 range. This job changed my financial life and gave me a completely different perspective of my capabilities and value as an employee. And I got that position because I was paying attention as I was cruising around Monster.com. So, my advice to you is: Pay attention. The next part is where it starts getting FUN!

Acid based concrete stains are becoming more and more popular for coloring concrete surfaces. They chemically react with the cementitious material to produce permanent color with variegated or mottled appearance like that of marble. This results in a natural, elegant looking surface. Water based concrete stains are an alternative to acid stains and are much more user friendly because they’re much less toxic. These stains do not chemically react with the concrete; they are absorbed into the surface pores and act like a dye. The big advantage of water based stains is the wide array of colors available. If you want to venture beyond the basic staining of concrete, consider using some scoring techniques to create patterns on the surface. You can make your concrete look like a tile floor for example. It is up to your imagination. An angle grinder with a 4 inch grinding or cutting wheel is the ideal tool for this. The important thing to remember when scoring is to draw the pattern on the concrete first and make sure you are satisfied with the way it looks because scoring is irreversible. Epoxy paints make an excellent coating for garage floors and basement floors. Many commercial floors have epoxy coatings because of their durability and resistance to chemical spills as well as their appearance. In recent years, however, it has become very popular for residential use with an increasing availability of different colors. This is not a difficult project, but the key to successful application is surface preparation. Epoxy paints have also become do-it-yourself available in a water based form making it safe for the do-it-yourselfer and ideal for indoor applications. They cost a little more than stains. For a 400 square foot garage, you’ll spend about $200 for the materials needed for this project. See? You do not have to spend money to have your home improved. You have the capability to do it yourself. With some instructions and a little bit of work, anyone can turn boring concrete into their own masterpiece. FOCUS ON YOUR MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL SIDE TO GAIN SELF IMPROVEMENT Not everyone believes this but the emotional and mental aspects of a person, when combined, leads to better self improvement. Emotions love to dominate our actions and reactions, even though we do not want it to happen sometimes. The society often see emotions as a sign of weakness, so people are used to putting them aside and focusing on the rational aspects more and more. No matter how strict and logical you may be, you will always feel. One way or another, someone or something will get through you. Positive emotions are a lifelong goal for many of us concerned about emotional health and self improvement. What is more important; the amount of money you made during your life or the times you laughed out of sheer joy? People tend to put their positive emotions behind their negative feelings. This is one of the biggest problems that people come across during their lives. There is no clear way to ignore a negative experience and try to replace it with a positive one. Life just does not work that way. For example, when you were a child, if your goldfish dies, you would be heartbroken. Your parents will probably buy you another goldfish but the sorrow is still there. Things get even more complex when you become an adult. A fight with your spouse the night before will affect your entire day. You will go to work angry, tired, and your mind will wander. On the way home from work you will not notice the sun shining and you would not be tempted to stop at a roadside stand to pick up some fresh fruits and vegetables. All this because that one negative emotional home thought has contaminated the way you perceive the reality around you. In this moment you will realize finding a safe place to relax your mind will do wonders for your emotional and mental improvement. That place is relatively easy to find. It can be an actual place or an imaginary location. The best idea is to totally lose yourself in it. Let us say you have a problem on your mind and it just would not go away. Go bowling. Do not know how? Just give it a shot. Get caught up in the game. Your mind will drift away from the negative thoughts that dominated your last hours or days and start processing a whole new kind of information. A safe haven can take many forms. It can be a song, a movie, even a person or animal. The main thing is allow yourself to get completely involved with this new activity. You might still get flashes of the problem every now and then. Ignore it and get even more absorbed in what you are doing. When the bowling game, the song, or the movie ends you will abruptly return to reality. You will probably want to retreat back to the safe place. Do not do it. The safe place exists only as a helping hand, not as a solution to your life’s problems, may it be a small or big. It serves only as an escape route. You will return from your safe zone with an increased energy level. You will feel better about yourself and gain more confidence. You will see that any issue can be resolved. This is how a small escape from a harsh reality can increase your emotional and mental health. Try to do this often and you are on your way to better self improvement. SELF IMPROVEMENT ADVICE FREE OF CHARGE. These are some oft-repeated questions when it comes to homeschooling hours. Flexibility is of course one of the key underlying principles behind homeschooling. This flexibility applies not only to the curriculum but also to the number of hours. It is only natural that parents, especially if they have just started out on homeschooling should feel that their children should be at their books all the time when regular school-goers are at school. This is not only fallacious but can also be damaging and counter-productive. One of the most ignored but glaring drawbacks of the public schooling system is the sheer waste of time and energy that it causes. Many periods are simply wasted away and the child effectively derives only 1-3 hours of study everyday. Then, there are days when the studies become too intensive and other days when it’s only games and no work at all. There is a lot of ‘invisible wastage’ involved here. Early on in your homeschooling practice, work out a schedule. It is advisable to stick to the same hours everyday. A routine makes it easier to learn and gives structure to the learning experience. It also tells the students that parents are strict about their learning. A routine also allows your child to free his mind from other activities and concentrate on studies. He knows that a particular time is strictly set aside for learning. Homeschooling Hours The actual number of hours that you need depends on the curriculum you have chosen and the learning style that suits your child. If you are dealing with a subject that seems to be more complex, you may need to sit with the child for a longer period. Using various techniques, it may be necessary to demonstrate what you are trying to teach. For instance, a lesson in Algebra may take more time than a lesson in English. Homeschooling does not refer to the practice of sitting in front of the books and learning the printed matter. Field trips, watching documentaries, visiting factories and libraries also make up an important slice of the homeschooling process. It makes sense to intersperse these activities so that learning becomes fun. You may want to finish off the few hours of textbook learning in the morning and dedicate the afternoons to these kinds of activities. Given the fact that too many public school hours are wasted in meaningless activities ranging from talking to extra-curricular activities, do not allow public school hours to dictate the time you should spend teaching your child at home. Remember that at home, he is getting a high-quality one-to-one time that is highly productive. About 1-3 hours of study is enough in the primary level. It is of course true that the more number of hours you put in, the more learning takes place. This is also the reason why homeschooling children are much smarter and more balanced than regular school going children. Methods For many people, homeschooling may call to mind the picture of two or three children sitting at a table and writing feverishly in their workbooks, while mom or dad stands nearby. This is the not entirely true. There are different methods of homeschooling, and the method you choose will decide the curriculum and your style of teaching. Given below are some of the most influential and popular homeschooling methods. The Charlotte Mason method: Charlotte Mason is known as the founder of the homeschooling movement. A homeschooler herself, she was passionate in her zeal to lay out the foundations for an effective a complete homeschooling program that is fun and educational at the same time. This method focuses on all the core subjects with emphasis placed on classical literature, poetry, fine arts, classical music and craft. Mason used a variety of books from classical literature, which she called ‘Living Books’. Since this method encourages a passionate awareness of literature, the child is read to daily from the ‘Living Books’. After this, the child is asked to narrate what she has heard. This process begins at the age of six, and by ten the child is expected to write her narrations in her book. Mason also advocated the use of ‘Nature Diaries’. After each short and interesting lesson, the child is asked to go to Nature and draw observations from Nature. Thus the child also gains a sense of respect for her environment. Mason believed that development of good character and behavior was essential to the complete development Hours Methods of the child’s personality. The Eclectic Homeschooling: This is a mixture of various homeschooling techniques. Here, the innovative parents trust their own judgment and pick out the topics that make the best curriculum for their child. Such parents continuously look out for the best products that will meet the needs of their homeschoolers. Most Eclectic homeschooling curriculums are improvised. This means that the basic curriculum is ready-made. The parents then make changes in the curriculum to accommodate the individual needs and interests of their children. The child’s gifts, temperament, learning style and interests dictate the curriculum. Eclectic programs include visits to the museum, libraries and factories. Unschooling: A Boston public educator name John Holt laid the beginnings of the unschooling method. He believed that children learned best when they are free to learn at their own pace and when they are guided by their own interests. His message was to ‘unschool’ the child. This method is a hands-on approach to learning, where the parent takes definite cues from the children. There is no definite curriculum, schedules or materials. This method is the most unstructured of the various homeschooling techniques. The Montessori Method: This method began in Italy, when it was observed that children have acute sensitive periods, during which they undergo periods of intense concentration. During such phases, a child will repeat an activity till he gains a measure of self-satisfaction. The Montessori method depends on a prepared environment to facilitate learning. All the materials used in this method are designed to satisfy the inner desire for spiritual development of the child. The materials used progress from simple to complex, and are rather expensive. These are just a few of the methods of homeschooling. Whatever the method, the underlying factor is flexibility and a keen interest in the desires of the child. The secret is to use the child’s desire for knowledge to further his education.
