Introduction To Addictive Disorders
In this guide, the Addictive Disorders discussed refer to health matters dealing with both physical and psychological intense desires or cravings for substances or behaviors that grow into dependency. For example, not only will alcohol and drug dependency be addressed, but addictions dealing with issues like emotional, “things” or “people” attachments. The general concept is that these cravings or yearnings are ongoing in spite of the fact that they cause the addicted person, and at times others, harm at various levels; social, psychological and physical. And on the whole, the addictive disorders that are discussed are considered progressive or advancing in nature, and chronic or lasting for a long period of time, with distinct periods of recurrence.
There are some alarming facts to consider regarding addictive disorders. For instance, a recent report in the National Drug Addiction Recovery Month Kit showed the cost of alcohol and illicit drug use in the workplace, including lost productivity, accidents and medical claims to be an estimated $140 billion per year.
Another fact: every eight seconds, a person dies due to a tobacco-related illness, according to the World Health Organization.
Also, an estimated 28 percent to 30 percent of people in the U.S.A. alone have an addictive substance abuse disorder, a mental health disorder or both, according to a 2002 report by the National Mental Health...

INTRODUCTION TO BODY BUILDING
This book is an exploration. We will explore the fascinating history of body building, which can be traced as far back as the 11th Century, up to the 19th Century when it arrived on the North American scene.
We will explore how to build your body and muscles, body building and weight lifting equipment, the “right” and the “dark” side of dietary supplements as well as the importance of proper nutrition for the serious body builder.
No discussion of body and muscle building would be complete without covering consumer health fraud. Bogus claims and promises of unrealistic results have been around for decades. The explosion of marketing on the internet has, unfortunately, created an exponential increase in unsavory providers ready and willing to bilk unsuspecting consumers.
Muscle Mania will explore package labeling and what you should know about before you buy. The content we cover presents a broad outline rather than substantive personal recommendations. Nothing within should be construed as anything more than educational and should never replace medical advice from a professional physician.

How to Give a Massage
Give a Perfect Massage
A massage is arguably one of the best things one can have after a very stressful day. Nothing relieves the body of the aches and pains that it experiences other than a well given massage.
Touch therapy is proven to be one of the best stress relievers because it invigorates not only the body, but also the mind and the soul. A massage clears the passages towards the harmonious function of one’s mind and body, thereby unifying the two elements.
In the physical sense, a massage will definitely induce relaxation and good blood circulation. The motion from the massage also induces the excretion of toxins from the body.
People go to massage therapists every now and then to be able to experience a good massage. However, learning how to administer massage to other people is definitely something wonderful. Just think about giving a massage to your loved one and effectively relieving her of the pains in her muscles and joints.

Cholesterol has been around for thousands of years. It’s a natural function of the human body. The modern story of cholesterol and how it affects us today, actually began during a government study in 1951.
The Pentagon sent pathologists to Korea to examine the bodies of servicemen who lost their lives during the war. Autopsies were conducted on 2,000 soldiers.
The results were astounding to the medical community of that time. Normally, no one under 35 dies of coronary heart disease. Remember, this was 1951!
More than 75 percent of the soldier had yellow deposits of atherosclerotic plaque on their artery walls. The average age of these soldiers was 21 contradicting the assumption that such artery clogging deposits were only prevalent in older men.
The results of the Army pathologists rocked the medical community. Prior to these autopsies, doctors had no idea how early the process of heart disease began.

The History of Epilepsy
Epilepsy is a serious disease that currently afflicts millions of people around the world. But did you know that epilepsy has already existed and puzzled our ancestors as far back as the start of human existence? In fact early medical writings as early as 3000 years ago, show that no disease has sparked so much interest and controversy among the early people than epilepsy.
However, our ancestors believed that epilepsy was an act of supernatural beings. The Babylonians, for one, believed that seizures were caused by demons attacking the person. The ancient Greeks on the other hand, believed that one will be afflicted with epilepsy by offending Selene, the goddess of the moon and in order to cure the disease, one has to eat mistletoe that has been picked without the aid of a blade during the time the moon is smallest in the sky. The ancient Romans did not only believe that the disease came from demons but that it was contagious as well. To get rid of the disease, one was required to spit to expel the demons.

Introduction
Q- How long have you been involved in the nutrition field?
A- I’ve been in the nutritional field for about 35 years. I worked for 14 years for Pillsbury which became General Mills then I left that job and worked another 20 years for a pharmaceutical food Company called Novartis, a large food corporation.
Q- What did you do for these companies?
A- Well I was in a lowly position with Pillsbury where I was working as a technician and I was a non-professional. I had a 2 years degree and then I worked my way up the ladder there and then I became a food scientist and finally ended up getting a 4-year degree from the University of Minnesota.
Then when I went to work for Novartis, I ended up working with a scientist title and I continued to work my way up and I did a lot of work formulating products, looking at the nutrition of different products and really following the development of food all the way up from the research state to full scale manufacturing. Basically a product development food scientist does everything; they work with the marketing people of the...

INTRODUCTION
Did you know that 90% of doctor visits are for stress related symptoms?
Stress bombards us every day from all directions. Maybe it’s sitting in the midst of highway gridlock when you are already late for an important appointment. Or how about the bill you forgot to pay? It could be a phone call from the school complaining about your child’s behavior.
These are just the annoying little stress triggers that we handle every day. What about the larger issues? Retirement, moving, divorce or, heaven forbid, the death of a loved one or friend can come out of the blue and here comes the stress, launching you into treading murky waters one more time.
The impression is that the feelings of stress come from outside sources when, in reality, it happens inside of us.
When we feel as though we are under pressure, our bodies react the same way that we have trained them to do with a rise in blood pressure, tightening of muscles and accelerated breathing.
These physical symptoms are generally referred to as “fight or flight” responses. This is a term left over from historical times when the choices were to flee or stand and fight.

What is Alcoholism
Alcoholism: Addictive Disease?
Alcoholism is a severe form of alcohol dependence characterized by the occurrence of withdrawal symptoms once the alcohol drinking habit has been curtailed. The person suffering from alcoholism will experience excessive sweating, severe discomfort, restlessness, etc. In turn, all these will trigger a set of emotional and mental withdrawal indicators which are direct responses to the absence of regular doses of alcohol the body has gotten used to.
Alcohol is a depressant and it inhibits symptoms that are associated with the use of uppers. The body realizes its need for alcohol once its dampening effect on the brain and the body's central nervous system begins to lift.
Alcoholism is developed over time through habitual and unchecked alcohol consumption that is more often than not targeted to get one's self intoxicated. The condition is progressive and the circumstances surrounding the process of getting over alcoholism can be complicated and difficult for concerned individuals.

First Things First
First Things First: Get Out to Meet People!
Let’s face it: if you want to meet people, you can’t expect them to fall out of heaven and into your lap. You need to get out and make a difference in your life: so put on those walking shoes, get that nice coat, put on a bit of sun block, and get ready to smile a bit!
The first step to making friends is to actually meet people and the more people you meet, the more opportunities you can find for yourself. You can meet people who might help you get a better job, or people who might inspire you to do better in your life. The more people you meet, the greater the possibilities become for you.
If you’ve been updated with technology, then you’ll know that the first place you can go to meet people is online. Thanks to the paradigm of Web 2.0, anyone who has a computer terminal and an Internet connection can get online. This increased interactivity of the Internet has also spawned blogs, where people can post their opinions and chronicles of their daily lives; friendly communities and networks, where people can literally make friends with people from all over the world; and forums, where people can post their thoughts on a variety of issues.
