You will also need to have plenty of RAM and a good soundcard that allows sound to travel over the internet and still be perfectly clear to the people that are hearing it. Most people are going to have to make do with the computer that they currently have, but here are a few things that you can do to make your computer a little faster in order to make sure that you don’t have any problems running your webinar: Shut down all running programs except for your browser and the programs you need for your webinar Increase the size of your paging file Use Glary Utilities to clean up your computer removing unnecessary files, shortcuts, registry entries and more Disable all of your browser add-ons unless you need them for your webinar Disable all background programs by going to MSCONFIG and then restart Use a browser that is as lightweight (in CPU usage) as possible The Platform Next, we are going to discuss the platform that you will be using. Platform is a very important choice because it determines the quality of your webinar and what you’ll be able to do during it. There are numerous features offered by webinar platforms on the market today. Here are just a few of those features. Recording of your webinar Statistics tracking Ability to add your own logo Screen sharing Mobile device access Chat room These are just a very small representation of the features that you might get with your webinar platform. The platform basically does it all for you, allowing people to connect and giving you administrative privileges over the webinar. As far as the cost goes, this varies significantly from one service to another. For example, you might have to pay $20 per month to host 25 attendees with one service while another may only offer $99 per month with 100 attendees as the starting point. What these services all have in common though is that they have tier pricing that bases the cost on how many people you will be able to let in for your webinar. There are a lot of platforms out there and it is difficult to recommend a specific one because the one that you need will be based upon your topic, your budget and what features you need. However, GoToWebinar is a very popular choice and Cisco’s WebEx is used widely as well. This is an extremely important purchase because you want them to be able to hear you clearly and understand what you are saying. If you want to spend a little more or less, there are lots of good quality USB mics to choose from. Screen sharing & Additional Programs You will need some kind of program like Microsoft’s PowerPoint if you want to do a slideshow. The way that you will generally do this is by making your PowerPoint presentation full screen after sharing your screen with attendees. If you plan on doing any other sort of presentations like playing a video or demonstrating some piece of software then you are obviously going to have those programs installed and running when you do your webinar as well. Webcams, Lighting & Backdrops Finally, if you plan on not sharing your screen but talking to the audience with a webcam trained on you, make sure that you get a webcam that broadcasts in HD and ensure that you have a solid backdrop like a blank wall or a curtain hung up behind you and then experiment with lighting until you get the best image of yourself on the webcam. You can usually use the lighting and background in your home or office. Chapter 02 - Picking a Niche and Selecting Your Topic Choosing your topic is going to be the most important thing that you do when it comes to your webinar. You probably already have an area that you are an expert in, since you are considering the idea of a webinar, but you may not know what specific topic you should choose. In this chapter, we will use some examples of niches, topics and webinars in order to give you the tools that you need to choose the right topic. The subject of the webinar is one of the biggest attractions that attendees say convinced them to go to the webinar. Step One: Know Your Niche Okay, so you want to find a topic for your webinar. What is your niche? You probably already know it but if not then think about what it is you do for a living, or what you are most passionate about or what you are most knowledgeable about. This is probably your niche. For example, Steve is a marketing director at his company and his passion is making money online. So, his occupation combined with his passion means that his niche is internet marketing, a very general term that describes many of the ways to make money online. But it is perfectly okay for your niche to be a very general term. In fact, the more general the better, because that means you have a far wider choice of topics. Step Two: Decide What People Want to Know What do people want to know about your niche? What kinds of questions are they asking search engines? If you want to run a successful webinar then you need to find out what people want to know so that you can teach them.

Sample Content Preview The Middle Ear The middle ear, an air-filled cavity, has the important job of transforming sound waves into vibrations. Between the outer ear and the middle ear lies the eardrum (tympanic membrane), which stretches tight across the ear canal. When soundwaves come into the ear canal, they hit the eardrum, causing it to move. When the eardrum moves, it sends vibrations into three tiny bones in the middle ear. These bones, the malleus, incus, and stapes (the smallest bone in the body), are collectively called the ossicles. The ossicles transmit vibrations to the inner ear. In order for the middle ear to work properly, the air pressure on both sides of the body needs to be equal. The Eustachian tubes, which connect the ear to the back of the throat, help to balance pressure on both sides of the body. When you have a bad cold, the Eustachian tubes have a hard time draining fluid and balancing pressure, which is why your hearing can be muffled when you are sick. The Inner Ear In the inner ear, the vibrations from the middle ear are transformed into nerve signals that are sent to the brain for processing. The cochlea, a snail-shaped, fluid-filled part of the inner ear, is where vibrations are changed into nerve signals. The nerve signals then travel to the brain along the cochlear nerve.  Just above the cochlea, like antennae on a snail, are the semicircular canals. These three fluid-filled tubes control balance. Each canal is lined with tiny hairs. As you move, the fluid in the tubes splashes around, moving the tiny hairs. This provides information on the position of the body. The hairs send that data to the brain via the vestibular nerve. The brain then sends signals to our muscles, helping us to stay balanced. If you are prone to motion sickness, you have the semicircular canals to thank. When they sense a lot of movement, but the eyes say we’re staying still (as on an airplane), the brain gets confused, resulting in nausea.  Hearing Loss Hearing loss is classified into three types, depending on where in the ear the problem originates.  * Conductive hearing loss involves the outer or middle ear. In conductive hearing loss, something is preventing the sound waves from reaching the inner ear. The most common causes of conductive hearing loss are blockages from fluid, earwax or foreign objects in the ear, and ear infections.   * Sensorineural hearing loss involves the inner ear. Sensorineural hearing loss is most commonly caused by genetics, viruses and infections, exposure to loud noises, and as a side effect of some medications and other chemicals.  * Mixed hearing loss occurs when there is both conductive hearing loss and sensorineural hearing loss. Mixed hearing loss can happen as the result of a head injury, infections, or due to genetic disorders. While some types of conductive hearing loss can be reversed, many forms of sensorineural hearing loss can’t be improved. However, if your hearing loss can’t be reversed, doctors and audiologists have many tools to help you manage hearing loss, including hearing aids, surgery, and training on how to minimize the impact of hearing loss on your life.  => Protecting Your Ears from Hearing Loss While you can’t do anything about your genetics, you can protect your ears from some kinds of hearing loss. Even if you already have some amount of hearing loss, protecting your ears will help prevent future damage, and keep your hearing as healthy as possible.  Here are a few steps you can take to help keep your ears healthy:  1. Don’t stick Q-tips or any other object in your ears. Your ears are self-cleaning and don’t require additional help. On occasion, earwax can build up and become uncomfortable or block hearing. If this happens, it’s best to see a doctor to remove it.  2. Keep your vaccines up to date. A number of common viruses, including measles and rubella, can cause hearing loss. Keeping your vaccines up to date helps protect you from these serious illnesses.  3. Protect your ears against loud sounds. Noise exposure is the biggest cause of hearing loss that you can control. Any time you have to raise your voice to be heard, the sound level is loud enough to damage your ears over time. Keep the volume low on your TV, music, and games, and wear ear protection in noisy environments. Most people know that factories, airports and construction sites may require hearing protection, but not as many people realize that bars, restaurants and subway stations can be just as loud. For example: * 70 dB can damage hearing over 24 hours. Examples include vacuum cleaners (60-85 dB), freeway traffic (70 dB), and dishwashers (55-70 dB).  * 85 dB can damage hearing over 8 hours. Examples include lawn mowers (65-95 dB), noisy restaurants (85+ dB), and subway stations (90-115 dB).  * 115 dB can damage hearing in just 28 seconds. Examples include chain saws (120 dB), a symphony orchestra (110dB), rock concerts (120 dB), and gunshots (150+ dB). Graves’ disease is the most common cause of hyperthyroidism. Hyperfunctioning thyroid nodules, which occur when a small piece of the thyroid malfunctions, creating small, benign (non-cancerous) nodules or lumps. These nodules pump out thyroid hormones, and do not respond to TSH levels. Thyroiditis, or inflammation of the thyroid, which can occur after pregnancy. Thyroiditis can also be caused by an infection or virus. In thyroiditis, the inflamed thyroid begins to leak stored thyroid hormone into the bloodstream. Excess iodine consumption. The thyroid makes thyroid hormones out of iodine. If someone consumes too much iodine, it may spur the production of excess thyroid hormone. Iodine is present in some medications, including some heart medications and cough syrups. Seaweed and seaweed supplements also contain iodine, as does table salt with added iodine. Excess thyroid medication. People who take medication for hypothyroidism (low levels of thyroid hormone) can experience hyperthyroid symptoms if their dose of medication is too high. It’s important that if you are taking medication for hypothyroidism that you have your thyroid levels checked from time to time, as your levels – and the dose of medication that you require – can change over time. Diagnosis and Treatment of Hyperthyroidism Hyperthyroidism is diagnosed by a simple blood test that gauges your thyroid hormone levels. Usually, your level of T4 will be high and TSH will be low. Once your doctor has confirmed that your thyroid hormone levels are too high, they will conduct further tests to find out why. These tests involve various methods of imaging the thyroid. Tests include: Radioiodine uptake test, in which you swallow a small amount of radioactive iodine, and your thyroid is checked at intervals over the next day to see how much collects in your thyroid gland. If your thyroid takes up a large amount of iodine, it shows that your thyroid is overactive, suggesting either Graves’ disease or thyroid nodules. If your thyroid doesn’t absorb much of the iodine, then your thyroid isn’t in hyperdrive. Instead, the cause of your hyperthyroid symptoms might be thyroiditis, or inflammation of the thyroid, causing thyroid hormone to leak into your bloodstream. Thyroid scan, in which a small amount of radioactive iodine is injected into your arm, and then a special camera takes pictures of your throat. This produces pictures that show your doctors exactly what is happening within your thyroid. Thyroid ultrasound, which uses an ultrasound machine to take images of your thyroid. This test doesn’t involve any radiation, which may be important for some patients – particularly those who are or who may become pregnant in the near future. The treatment for hyperthyroidism depends on what is causing the problem, as well as your age, health history, and preferences. Treatments include: Radioactive iodine. Radioactive iodine will be absorbed by the thyroid gland, causing it to shrink. This treatment will help your symptoms disappear within a few months. In some cases, though, patients are left with low levels of thyroid hormone (hypothyroidism) and must take thyroid hormone pills. While the idea of radioactive iodine may sound scary, this is a very safe treatment. Any excess radiation will disappear from your body within months. However, there are some people, including those who are pregnant or trying to become pregnant, who should not be treated with radioactive iodine. In these cases, there are other treatments. Anti-thyroid medications. These medications can bring down your thyroid hormone levels within a few weeks or months. Some people may need to take the pills for a year or more. In many cases, one course of pills is enough to resolve hyperthyroidism, but some people may have recurring symptoms and require ongoing treatment. Thyroid surgery. Thyroid surgery involves removing thyroid tissue. Surgery used to be common, but other treatments such as medication and radioactive iodine are safer. Still, surgery is still used in some cases where other treatments can’t be used. The risks of surgery include damage to the vocal cords or other delicate parts of the throat. After surgery, most patients will require thyroid hormone medication for life. Beta blockers. Beta blockers don’t cure hyperthyroidism, but they can make the symptoms resolve quickly. For that reason, they are sometimes given to patients to make them feel better while other treatments are working on solving the underlying problem. While family doctors can diagnose and treat hyperthyroidism, sometimes they will refer patients to an endocrinologist. Endocrinologists specialize in the endocrine system and can help with conditions caused by glandular problems or hormonal imbalances. Dietary Changes That Can Help Your Thyroid You can’t cure hyperthyroidism by changing your diet, but some foods can help soothe symptoms. Other foods can make symptoms worse. In addition, some foods can interfere with common thyroid medications. By optimizing your diet, you can support your recovery and feel better faster.

Facebook Live on any Device It doesn’t matter if you use a desktop computer like a laptop or a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet, you can create a Facebook Live event. There is a simple process to go through depending on what device you want to use. With a laptop or desktop computer just use your Internet browser (Chrome, Firefox, Opera etc) and login to Facebook as you would normally. At the top of your news feed you will see a box with “What’s on your mind” so click on this. Then choose the “Live Video” option. There are Facebook apps available for both Android and iOS powered mobile devices. You can easily find these at the Google Play Store or the Apple Store. Download the app on your device and install it. With an Android device you will need to tap on “What’s on your mind” and then tap on “Go Live”. With an iOS device it is slightly different. Find “What’s on your mind” at the top of your feed and then tap the icon for video recording that will also say “Live Video”. Whatever device you use you just follow these steps now. You will need to give your live event a name and provide a description about it (this is optional but recommended). You can also upload a video thumbnail. The next step is to choose the audience for your Facebook Live event. Click or tap on “Next” and when you are ready to go just click or tap on “Go Live”. You need to be aware that there is a 4 hour time limit for Facebook Live videos. This is more than enough time for your event. Nobody is going to want to sit through a 4 hour Facebook Live session no matter how good it is. We will discuss this in more detail in a later chapter. You are not a faceless organization that customers and potential customers do not know the people behind it. This is very important for developing trust and establishing credibility for your brand. A Facebook Live event provides a “face to face” opportunity that text posts and image posts cannot achieve. You can have a single host or introduce other members of your business to your audience. Questions and Answers Another benefit of holding a Facebook Live event is that you can hold a real time question and answer session. This will boost your engagement and it is a good idea to let people know that there will be a Q & A session prior to the event going live. People like to ask questions. It is likely that a lot of the people attending will have their questions answered by other attendees asking the questions. This is fine as not everyone feels comfortable about asking questions on a live video stream. You can either take questions as they come up or request that people wait until the end of the event and you will answer all questions then. By waiting until the end, you will increase the chances of your followers watching the entire event. Some businesses set up recurring Facebook Live events where they take questions as they arise. Recurring events are good if you have a lot of content to share with your audience. It is best of the content is different each time and not a repeat of what you have presented already.
