With the advent of high-speed computing chips, Gigs (billions of bits of data) of storage and memory, laptops and wireless internet connections, the world is literally wired together. Today, you can sit on a beach in New England and have a video conference with a client in Australia or chat with friends in the United Kingdom. The earliest computing devices go back to ancient Greece, with the Antikythera mechanism; a machine that let people calculate the positions of stars and planets. It would be centuries before another such device came into existence. The Babbage Engine was a simple calculating machine for adding numbers, but it wasn’t until World War II that the Allies developed machines that could do massive calculations as part of the effort to crack the German Enigma coding machines. By the end of the decades, machines like ENIAC were doing simple arithmetic; these were massive computers, taking up entire buildings, using vacuum tubes, and requiring more power than some small towns. It wasn’t until the integrated circuit was invented a decades later that computers began to shrink in size. As the circuits got smaller and more were packed onto a chip, the computers got more powerful. In the 80’s, the paper rollers used to type in data and get a response on were replaced with the first monitors – simple black and white screens. These were followed by the green screens, and the amber. Throughout the 80’s the technology improved by leaps and bounds. Where once the computer could only run programs off of floppy disks put in an external drive, and save and retrieve data the same way, an internal drive was developed, and then full-color monitors.

In most cases, our brains are not used in a balanced way. We're creatures of habit. We find a way to do things that we consider comfortable and we seldom change our ways. Many of the physical activities we perform each day are done with one side of our body, without even giving it much though. If we're not giving something much thought, we're not exercising or training our brains. We also get very set in the way we feel emotionally about things or people, which does not give our brains much stimulation or cause for thought. These are not things we consciously set out to do in our lives but rather habits that have developed because of the way our brains function, mostly because of genetics. For instance, it's not our choice to be right handed. It just happens that way, and we seldom give it much thought. We are also the result of year's old biological factors that affect our skills, moods and social habits. Our brains and brain functions are also the result of our culture and upbringing. Although many of us argue the old nature versus nurture theory, studies indicate that training our brains to be more active can play an important role in how we act, feel and how successful we are in life.

As a buyer, all you need to do is provide some minimal information such as name, address, e-mail address, and create a user ID and password. To register as a seller requires some additional steps, primarily focusing on financial matters, though you'll also be expected to agree upon what you can and cannot put up for auction, and the rules and regulations associated with listing or presenting information regarding the items you intend to auction. It almost goes without saying that you'll be expected to conduct your selling affairs in honest matter, in no way misrepresenting the items you will be listing. As an eBay auction seller, you'll need to set up an account, as you will be paying fees to have items listed, as well as paying commissions on those items which sell. You do not have to pay a commission on any item you list that does not sell. You have several choices as to how to intend to make any payments due eBay, but in any event, to open an account you will need either a valid credit card, a debit card, or provide your bank account information. You'll also want to set up a feedback profile. This is especially important if you intend to sell many items at auction. The feedback profile, which is public, is intended to help you the seller, and to give a prospective bidder peace of mind should they choose to bid on a relatively expensive item. The feedback profile serves as a good policeman, hopefully in your case a kind one. A few highly negative feedback comments can be damaging, so you'll want to conduct business in an honest and professional matter.

Evaluate the Purpose of your Website The first obstacle in determining your website design is to evaluate its purpose. If you are a retail business, you most likely will need a shopping cart feature. However, if you are a consulting firm, you may only want to list your contact information or an application for service. Evaluating the purpose of your website will help determine the features you need and those you can live without. Determine the Complexity of your Site Again, if your business sells many different kinds of widgets, then you will need a shopping cart. If your widgets are self-explanatory, (i.e. impulse items), then perhaps you simply need a page for each category of widget. The page can list each item, a short description, and a link to add it to the customer’s shopping cart. However, if your business is selling widgets which need more explanation, perhaps bigger ticket items, then you might need a single page for each widget. You may even need several pages for each widget’s specifications.

They are in fact two separate programs, although they work in tandem with each other to deliver results for all parties involved. Google Adwords is the program that allows advertisers to advertise their website by the use of ads. Those advertisements most often show up on Google’s search results page (usually on the right hand column). They can also be displayed on Google’s partner sites (like other search engines) or on publisher/webmaster’s websites. As an advertiser, you only pay Google for your ads that show up on their site and on their partner’s sites. You do not pay for your ad to show up on other publishers’ sites. In this instance, you would pay per click (PPC). Google Adsense refers to the program wherein publishers sign up to run advertisers’ ads on their website. The publishers are then paid by Google for each user they provide to those ads.

You may have heard about Wordpress but you may not know what it actually is or what it offers to you. The one thing you should know is that a blog is one of the most important ways to establish a presence online. Without a blog, you and your business are unlikely to success without spending a great deal of money on advertising. The good news is that is not what you have to do when you use Wordpress. In fact, Wordpress is free. How Does It Work? Wordpress is a free web based software program. Anyone can use it if you sign up with the company to do so. There is no cost to doing so and even though there are some limitations, they are minor. Wordpress allows you to build a website or a blog. The original intent of the software developers was to create a way to make it easy to set up a blog. However, this only lasted for a short amount of time as open source contributors helped to make Wordpress much more, through extensions of its capabilities and to improve what it can offer to the user. Some would call Wordpress a content management system, or CMS. This term means that it is a way of organizing content for the web. You can use it to run full sized websites, use it to run websites packed with media or just use it as a simple tool that holds a variety of personal data. Because it is so easy to use and it allows you to easily manipulate the website content you have, Wordpress has helped to make setting up a blog easy to do. Further, it has become incredibly simple and inexpensive to start an online business or even just to set up a blog to talk with your friends with.

The definition of affiliate can be a noun or a verb. As a noun affiliate means a branch organization. As a verb it means to bring into close association or connection. This is according to dictionary.com. The web site amazon.com was one of the first sites to launch an associate/affiliate program. Earning an income online with an affiliate business website can be profitable if you are willing to put time into the project. There is no such thing as get rich quick while working only a few minutes a day. Beware of sites that promise you that. There are some valid affiliate business sites where you can earn an income but as with anything, you have to give it some effort. Internet based marketing has become the next big thing. Commissions have been around for some time and now are finally coming to the web.  Rewards are given to affiliates for each visitor or customer that is brought to the website business. Some sites use pay per click, coupons or rebates as incentives. The one thing that internet marketers have discovered is that people like useful information, especially when it is free. Whether it is a small e-book explaining how to take a good picture or tips on paying down your credit card, it is important to have this offer on the website. Consumers will return if they think that there may be some more interesting offers.
