Some of this will come with practice but if you keep the tips we’ve covered in mind, your writing should already be more engaging and interesting for the reader. Now we can dive into the good stuff: understanding the psychology of our readers to try and persuade them to buy from us, sign up to our newsletter or bookmark our page. And the first challenge you’re going to face in this capacity is just getting them to read what you’ve written. A lot of people are going to land on your pages every day and un-fortunately, most of them will leave within a few seconds of getting there. The average time that someone spends on any website is actually under a minute and most of us can attest to this if we reflect on our own browsing behaviour. The fact of the matter is that we’re constantly in a rush, we’re desensitized to all the ad-verts we see and we’ve become accustomed to getting the information we’re looking for in a very short amount of time. If someone loads up your page then and they’re met with a thick wall of text explaining the importance of synergy in a connected business… then you’ll lose them in seconds. You need to be faster and more engaging than that! Layout and Font The first thing you need to do to ensure your copy grabs and holds attention is to format it correctly. No matter how good you are at writing, a massive paragraph of small text is never going to be read by anyone who lands on your page. Instead then, you need to break up your content with lots of short paragraphs and you need to use headings, bullets and anything else you can to space out the information. Likewise, the font itself should be large and readable and you should use big enough line spacing to make sure that it doesn’t look cramped or crowded on the page. Another tip is to think about where on the page your text is going to be and how the eye will be led to it. A good web design should merge with good content to make sure that the reader’s attention is directed in the right way and not distracted away. And there are lots of subtle cues that contribute to this. As a rule, we tend to absorb in-formation from top-to-bottom and left-to-right. This means that the information we want visitors to read should start in the top left of the page (or thereabouts). At the same time though, we also tend to look at the largest, boldest and most colourful object on any page first. This will be the element that creates the most contrast. This is actually why you’ll often see magazines use large, bold and colored letters at the start of articles: Skiing is a hobby that can be incredibly fun but also somewhat dangerous… That big ‘S’ says ‘start here’ and helps draw the eye to the beginning of the text. Subtle cues can even come from the images on your page. Ask whether your image could be interpreted unconsciously as an arrow to draw the eye. For example, if there’s a picture of a person on your page, then chances are that your visitors will automatically look in the direction that the person is facing. This is why people on your page should always look at the text! Telling a Tale With your text set up in order to grab as much attention as possible, the next thing you need to do is to try and ensure your text is gripping and that it compels the reader to keep reading. The idea is that your writing should have an almost addictive quality – so that even as the reader tells themselves they should be doing something else, they will struggle to tear their eyes away from the page. How can we possibly accomplish that? One tip that is very useful for starters is to use a narrative structure to try and grab at-tention. This is an incredibly effective method to bring people in and to get them emotionally in-vested in what you’re saying. Why? Because we have evolved over thousands of years to pay close attention to stories. We think of stories as being relevant to us and we are able to place ourselves in the shoes of the people we are reading about. They naturally make use of our in-built empathy and understanding of others and this gives them an even stronger ability to influence us and change our thoughts. What’s more is that we find it very difficult to turn away from a story because we want to find out what will happen next. If you’ve ever sat up all night watching badly made TV, then you’ll know this well! ‘I knew it was rubbish but I still wanted to find out what happened!’ You’ll often see this strategy being used in sales pages that are trying to sell ‘make money schemes’ or fitness ebooks. They might go something like this: I find it hard to believe now but I was once REALLY tight for money. I mean, I once had water on my cereal last year because I had no milk and couldn’t afford to buy any more… …which wasn’t even as bad as the time I ate cold broccoli for lunch because it was the only thing in my fridge! Today things are a LOT better. As in, writing this from my private yacht better… But the way I got here? Well, it wasn’t quite your normal rags-to-riches story, put it that way! Using this technique, the content immediately grabs attention because it’s using the first person and it sounds open and honest (of course most of these things are a load of nonsense!). We read the first sentence or two to hear what the person has to say for themselves and because each paragraph is so short, we find ourselves constantly mov-ing down to the next line and scrolling the page as we do. Many people will be able to relate to the story and when we hear that there was a ‘way out’ we’re intrigued. The fact that the way out wasn’t ‘normal’ only makes it more intri-guing… And before you know it, you find that you’re continuously scrolling down and becoming more and more invested in what the person has to say! Some people will react differently. They’ll see this text and think ‘I’ve seen that before, how manipulative’. But you know what: often these people will also read the text partly to see how annoying it is… and this then means they can still end up getting roped into the narrative! Create a story that instantly grabs attention and then try to make every line or short par-agraph into a ‘mini-cliffhanger’. Ideally, the reader should feel completely compelled to keep moving onto the next line and they may well not be able to stop until they get to the end! Using Rhetorical Questions? Something else you’ll often find used in these long sales pages, is the rhetorical ques-tion. This is a question aimed at the reader that of course is not going to get a response but which serves a number of useful purposes as a result. For starters, using questions creates a small amount of suspense while also breaking up the text. How? By getting the reader to second guess what the solution will be and making them wait for a beat before finding out. (See what I did there?) At the same time, the rhetorical question also serves the purpose of making the reader think for a moment and in doing that, it causes them to engage more with the text. Finally, the rhetorical question works because it feels as though the writer is talking to you. This again makes you sit up and take notice; similar to when a teacher would say a pupil’s name because they weren’t really listening.

Sending Your Child To Summer Camp PLR Ebook

Sample Content Preview Day camp will usually be such a whirl of activities that it won’t give them time to miss you. As mentioned earlier, it will have a structured timetable similar to what they are used to at school. Sleepaway camp will be similar in some ways. The main difference is they will be there at night and throughout the weekend as well. Some camps maintain a schedule all seven days of the week. Others might give the students a lighter day on Saturday or Sunday, and supervised free time to get laundry and shopping done, and so on. In terms of sleepaway camp, the biggest challenge for your child will usually be that things are not exactly the way they are used to having them at home. A tour of the facility will get them use to the idea of living in a cabin, tent or teepee. Most of the camp staff are familiar with homesickness and adjustment issues, and the best ways to handle it. In most cases, camps will have rules about mobile phone use and spending time online. It is discouraged because they want children to take part and interact with each other. In the case of sleepaway camp, they also want the children to become used to things and immerse themselves in the camping experience. They will often ban communication with home for the first week to help with this. The cellphone and media ban may worsen the homesickness. On the other hand, it might also stop both parents and children from getting into a tizzy over how different things are from home. Children will probably complain about their bed, food, the weather, and other things that might make the parents feel guilty or powerless to help. But parents should also keep in mind their child’s personality. Are they generally picky about their food, or like to have things just so? In this case they are probably going to complain about things no matter what. If they are used to having their own room at home and everything done for them, having to share a cabin or tent with others and do their own laundry and other chores might be a real shock. However, it can also be a real blessing - teaching the child responsibility and not to take everything for granted. It also teaches them the importance of cooperating with others in order to create and maintain a harmonious living environment. There's not much you can do about the weather while they are away, but if you have packed carefully for all contingencies, your child should be safe, comfortable and warm if the weather is cold or cool, and protected from the sun if the summer weather is extremely hot. Helicopter parents may find the thought of sending their child away to summer camp almost unbearable, but after the initial shock to the system, they will usually start to appreciate just how much freedom they will gain from their camp-going child being away from home and exposed to a range of new and interesting experiences. A specialized camp in particular will be expensive, but will also give the child a lot of individualized attention and increased skills that parents themselves might not be able to offer if the child stayed home with them. Any parents who have ever been to summer camp themselves will usually recall their experiences fondly. Your child might have separation anxiety and/or homesickness, or be painfully shy, but trained staff are always on hand who know exactly how to deal with these issues. In this way, your child will be able to make a gradual but successful transition into a well-rounded, independent and capable young adult. Summer camp offers many advantages for children, but they do come at a cost. Let’s look next at how to manage the expense of sending the kids to camp. SECTION 9: HOW TO MANAGE THE COST OF SUMMER CAMP Some parents compare getting their child into summer camp to trying to secure them a college place. Depending on where you live, there might be very few choices for camp, and the spots available will fill up fast. This will be particularly true if you wish to apply for a scholarship for your child to attend. Scholarships are based on financial need in most cases, but can sometimes be given to campers they would really like to have attend. This will often be the case with repeat campers they would wish to have return year after year, especially with a view to becoming a camp counsellor one day. If your child is completely new to the camping experience, they might offer a partial scholarship as an incentive for them to try it to see how they like it. If you are sending more than one child, you should be offered a discount. If your child is going with friends, they could get a group discount. Some camps base their pricing on the age of the children, with the younger ones usually costing less than older children. Older children use more facilities, get more excursions, and so on. Younger children will require more counsellors for more supervision, but they will often be given nap time and arts and crafts time rather than very vigorous activities. Check the pricing structure carefully and see if it is worth it based on how old your children are. Some camps will offer assistance in tiers, from a small discount to full scholarships depending on need. At the Y, for example, scholarships can be made available thanks to donations from the public and from other parents as well. Campers who go back the following year will sometimes be given the same price as the previous year, since they are camp alumni so to speak. Counselling in training or CIT programs can also make camp more affordable for your older, responsible teen. In most cases, they will offer a substantial discount off the usual fees. In others, they might waive the fee completely, or offer a weekly stipend. If it is a sleepaway camp, this can offer a huge savings, since it represents accommodation and all meals for however long the summer camp will last, usually eight weeks. If your child really loves the camping experience, this can be an ideal way for them to have fun in the summer and get real work experience at the same time. There are several other considerations which can add to or cut the cost of camping. Ask what insurance and other fees are required, such as for uniforms, photos and so on. Most camps will include these in the price, but if they are charged separately, you might be able to cut your costs and still ensure your child has a great time. In terms of affordability, the Y camps offer good value. The prices vary from center to center depending on the facilities. They have now started offering specialized camps as well. In case you are thinking you might not be able to afford the perfect camp for your child, think again. Even the specialized ones may be more affordable than you think. The main thing is to apply as early as possible once the centers start enrollment, for both a place and a scholarship. Even a partial scholarship can make camp more affordable. One other important pricing factor will be early drop-off and late pick-up. Many camps run the same hours as school, or perhaps until 4 pm. If you want to drop your child off well before the start time and not pick them up until 6, this will add to the cost. However, it can be a lot cheaper than having to arrange for a childminder or run yourself ragged trying to get back and forth to work in relation to the camp times.

This form of liquid is indeed harmful to humans, especially when they reach the water sources. In this chapter, you will learn more about the dangers brought by Leachate and how it causes water pollution. Leachate and Its Dangers As mentioned earlier, leachate is a form of contaminated liquid that has percolated through harmful waste and has leaked into the environment. While this runoff comes with a range of toxic chemicals, this normally affects human health and the environment, particularly when it starts from the solid waste within landfills and drifts into streams, rivers, the groundwater, as well as the ocean. Landfill Leachate Landfills are the most extensively utilized things for solid waste disposal. If the water from the melting snow or rain seeps through the putrefying inorganic and organic waste of such landfills, it turns out to be polluted. The entire landfills produce this kind of pollution, even the ones that have been abandoned and closed for decades. Normally, a single ton of landfill waste produces around 53 gallons of extremely contaminated wastewater leachate. Components of Leachate Landfills are not like the other sources of groundwater pollution because once the wastes have been buried, a cycle of biological, physical and chemical reactions occur that will intensify the toxic waste concentration, which runs off in the form of leachate. In rare conditions, completely new compounds are being formed. The typical landfill leachate contains high ammoniacal nitrogen concentrations and fairly high concentration of recalcitrant compounds that include halogenated hydrocarbons like methylene chloride and tetrachloride, along with complex polymers that contain heavy metals that are not easily degradable. Among those toxic pollutants, the organic nitrogen’s decomposition into ammoniacal nitrogen is not just a long-lasting pollutant, yet it is also highly toxic to most aquatic species. Over the previous one hundred years, arsenic is the substance that has played a significant industrial role within the production of metal alloys, lead batteries, wood preservatives, glass and semiconductors, along with herbicides, pesticides and animal feed. All of these materials eventually find their way into the landfills. Groundwater Pollution Leachate contaminants that leaked from the landfills can be a serious risk to the core groundwater, which is the major source of drinking water in the most parts of the world. This threat has become a crucial problem in many developing countries in which the majority of landfills are established without any preventative environmental engineering like leachate collection systems or liners. When the leachate seeps into the groundwater, it may be expensive and hard to have it cleaned up and have the source of drinking water restored into its usable state. Methane Pollution Harmful leachate that leaks into sewers has become a typical problem. Generally, treatment plants for public wastewater do not accept leachate because of its toxic concentration. For treatment plants that accept untreated, both health and physical threats exist. The existence of dissolved methane could offer some physical risks. In inappropriately ventilated sewer systems, such methane could lead to violent explosions. The intense concentrations of ammoniacal nitrogen within leachate may also pose some health risks to the workers of sewer maintenance. Chapter 3: Better Waste Management Creates a Better Environment The environmental condition highly depends on the way you manage it and the way you deal with your waste. Waste management is the prevention, generation, monitoring, handling, treatment, residual disposition, the characterization and reuse of solid wastes. To know more about better waste management and creating a better environment read on this chapter. Best Methods of Waste Management There are different forms of solid waste and these include agricultural, municipal (commercial, residential, institutional), and special (sewage sludge, health care, household hazardous wastes). Usually, the term relates to those materials that are produced by human activity. Furthermore, the process is normally undertaken in order to decrease their effect on the environment, aesthetics or health. It is crucial to know the best ways to conduct waste disposal. In the world of today in which population is on the rise and so is quick industrialization, waste material creation is a popular trend. These wastes can be dangerous to the environment while the way you have them disposed off varies on the way they affect the environment. Proper disposing of waste materials aids in keeping the environment free of pathogens that cause diseases and maintains it green. The following are 4 techniques of suitable waste management that will help you in keeping your environment clean. Recycling One of the most common methods of waste management, recycling is not costly and it could easily be conducted by you. Once you perform recycling, you will be able to save lots of resources, energy and so, it helps reduce pollution. Also, you may save money when you recycle. Different materials that can be recycled include aluminum, plastics, glass and papers. If you like to decrease the waste material’s volume, one of the best ways you can do is to recycle. When you choose recycling, you could get rid of tires, asphalt and batteries from the waste material and it stops them from being into the incinerator and landfills. The municipality of just about every city motivates their citizens from taking up recycling. So, be one of these responsible citizens and decrease your waste through recycling. Composting This is the natural process which is totally free of any risky by-products. The process includes the break down process of materials into some organic compounds that may be utilized as manure. You may perform composting within your very own backyard. When composting, you may use grass, twigs, leaves, and add fruit and vegetable skins and peels. After a couple of days, you should observe that the materials have decomposed. You may utilize this compost that is rich in nutrients in order to enhance the soil within your garden. Landfills Waste management by the utilization of landfills includes the utilization of a wide area. The place is excavated and will be filled with the waste. After that, the area will be covered up using soil. Landfills are unsafe since they release gases such as methane that are extremely perilous. You must not execute waste management with landfills when you can’t guarantee safety means. Landfills must be lined properly while the waste must not get in touch with the neighboring areas. Burning Of Waste Material If you can’t recycle or when there are no ideal places for having landfills set up, you may burn the waste materials produced within your household. Controlled waste burning at extreme temperatures to generate steam and ash is an ideal waste disposal method. Combustion significantly decreases the waste volume to be disposed. Furthermore, solid waste may offer for the alternative and continuously available source for producing energy with combustion. Such energy may be channeled into functional purposes. These are few of the waste management methods you can perform within the individual level. Also, these are inexpensive and safe. In such way, you will be able to work for the development of the whole environment.

Marketing With Kindle Personal Use Ebook

Sample Content Preview Social Media Social media is also a big part of your strategy. You don’t have to spend hours maintaining your accounts each day, but you should become known in the genre you are targeting. You want to build relationships with readers and other authors. Social media will help foster these relationships and help drive traffic to your website. I suggest you sign up for a Twitter account, using your author name. Include your website’s address in your profile, along with a compelling personal photo (or the photo you’re using for your pen name) and background graphic. Start to find and follow others in your niche and genre. Find lists people have created that are relevant to your genre. Many people will follow you back. Retweet and respond to others’ tweets-- you want them to notice you. Tweet about what you’re writing, what’s going on in your life, quotes you like, and more. Really make it personal, interesting, and fun. Do this for around 10-15 minutes per day and you’ll soon have built up a great following on Twitter. You should also create a Facebook page for your author name and brand. You can post about what you’re working on, what’s going on in your day, and share interesting graphics and others’ posts. You can post on relevant pages as your own page. Make sure your page name is interesting and descriptive. People won’t tend to click through to your page if it’s just your name (assuming you’re not already well known). Put something like “Your Name-- Juicy Paranormal Romance Author.” You’ll get many more people clicking through to learn more about you and hopefully liking your page. Don’t forget to link to your website from your social media accounts. Tweet and post about your free book download (in the hopes of getting people to visit your site and opt in to your list). Post from your site to your social media accounts as well-- you want to link everything together to help people find you and get to know you. The thing to keep in mind with social media is that it’s about relationships. It’s not about spamming your book or your link. You need to get to know people in your niche and your genre and help them get to know you. This can be fairly time consuming at first. Just go in with a plan, don’t get distracted, and allow your presence in social media to build up over time. Book Sites There are a variety of different author, reader, and book sites you can join to help people get to know you and your books. These sites are perfectly targeted so you’ll be able to find those who are interested in what you have to share. Some of these sites allow you to advertise your book (like when it’s on sale or free) and others allow you to run book giveaways. This can be a great way to get additional reviews (it’s very important to have these) and exposure. For now, I’ll just cover two of the most important ones. GoodReads and LibraryThing. Here is where you can read all about the GoodReads author program: https:// www.goodreads.com/author/program They offer a variety of ways for you to get additional exposure. I recommend you take advantage of all of them. LibraryThing has some similar features for authors that you can take advantage of. Here is more information about what they offer to authors: https://www.librarything.com/about/authors Again, I recommend you take advantage of all of what they have to offer. It can really help you break into the community and get you a lot of exposure for next to no cost. The Importance of List Building Earlier, I mentioned that you should put an opt in form on your website. That’s so you can collect email addresses you can mail with special offers, new books, new blog posts, free books, and more. List building should actually be the focus of all your marketing. You don’t just want to get people to visit your website one time. That’s lost traffic. You want them to visit time and time again and to buy all of your books. But, they have to get to know you first. The best way to make that happen is to build a list. This is something traditional publishers still get wrong. They neglect list building specifically for authors. When they do it, they don’t do it in an enticing way, particularly for new authors. You might sign up for a David Baldacci email list because you really enjoy his work...regardless of whether you’re getting anything in return. You’re a lot less likely to do the same for authors you don’t know. That’s the boat you’re in when people hear about your work or see your opt in form. You have to give them a great reason to do so. You need to optimize your opt in form and emails. Optimize Your Opt In Form Your autoresponder company will do a good job of helping you create the look of your opt in form. I want to make sure you don’t go over the top with the options and information you choose to collect from your site visitors, though. I’ve seen author’s opt in forms where they ask for things like your phone number and home address. That is completely unnecessary. Really, all you need is the email address. Make sure you include enticing text as the headline. The benefit of them opting in is that they will receive a free download (or whatever you have decided). Make that very clear so they opt in. Think about it from their perspective-- what’s going to get them to enter their email address? Creating a Squeeze Page A squeeze page is a page with minimal, enticing text and an opt in form. It has one purpose--to get people to opt in to your list. Ideally, it won’t have any other links or anything distracting at all. You can send people to this page from social media sites and other sites you list your email address on. You may not be familiar with copywriting, but it will serve you well to familiarize yourself to it. Your squeeze page should include a headline and some bullet points that spell out the benefits of opting into your list. If they are getting a fiction book, you might put a very small amount of story there and ask them to opt in to receive the rest. Do whatever you need to do to whet their appetite so you get the opt in. Writing Autoresponder Emails There are two different kinds of emails when it comes to email marketing. There are autoresponder emails that are designed to be sent according to when someone has opted in. Someone can opt in on Monday and get message one while someone else opts in on Wednesday and gets message one. I suggest you include a welcome email, complete with their freebie book or other download (whatever you promised them). Introduce yourself and let them get to know you a little bit. You can schedule several of these emails to go out one day after the next. You can space them out further if you want. That’s what’s brilliant about having an autoresponder service-- it works on autopilot for you. Give them a lot of value throughout the messages. Try to leave cliff-hangers and enticing thoughts throughout to get them ‘trained’ to read the next one you send out. The goal is to get them to love what you send out through these autoresponder emails so they read your broadcast emails as well. Writing Broadcast Emails Broadcast emails are typically more ‘of the moment’ than autoresponder emails. These go out to everyone at the same time. You’ll use the broadcast email function on your autoresponder service whenever you have a special offer, a thought you want to share with your list, a new blog post, or whatever you like. Don’t hesitate to inform your subscribers about your new and upcoming releases-- link them directly to the Amazon page to buy. That’s the whole goal of having a list, and it will drive your sales up dramatically. Often, all people need is a reminder to buy and they’ll rush right over to do it. If you have people from your email list buying it will zoom you up in Amazon’s charts-- leading to more people buying and more people checking out your website and opting in to your list. That’s why I consider this a snowball strategy. It gets easier to make sales and reach bestseller status every time you release a book. What to Put in the Book to Get People to Buy This is one of the biggest things I see authors and publishers getting wrong. They include the book in the Kindle file...and only the book. You’re missing out on huge sales opportunities if you do that.

Of course just creating a list of things you want to change and knowing a bit more what it is you want from life is only a very small first step in getting there. Now you have to actually start making things happen for yourself and that means taking small, positive steps toward achieving your new goals. This is where most people go wrong. Not because they go about achieving their goals in the wrong way (though this happens) but because they don’t go about it at all. The big problem for many of us is that we’re seemingly ‘waiting’ for something to happen. We’re happy to just go along with our current lifestyles which are ‘good enough’ rather than aim for something bigger and better. Sometimes this comes down to fear. Sometimes this comes down to thinking they have no other option. Sometimes it comes down to believing that waiting is legitimately the best strategy for getting what they want. The ultimate example of this is retirement. How many people do you think live their lives cautiously because they’re saving for retirement? How many people put off going on holidays and travelling the world because they think it’s better to wait for that pay off? But when you think about it, this makes no sense at all. Of course it makes sense to plan for the future but why would you defer your happiness until you’re at a point in your life where you’re not physically capable of enjoying it to the fullest? Why wait until you have no energy and a painful knee and spine before you start travelling the globe? It just makes no sense when you could take action now and start having the things you want immediately. Instead, you could start seeing the world now by taking sabbaticals or just by prioritizing your travel on your experience rather than spending money on other things or saving as much. Don’t wait for that perfect moment – do the things you want to do now and live the life you want to live! Another example of this is wealth. A lot of people will dream about the things they want from life when they’re wealthy. How many times have you imagined your perfect home that you will buy when you’re rolling in cash? It’s something most of us have done at some point. But now think about what that perfect home actually entails. Most likely, it’s a fairly standard property but with the added bonus of looking cleaner, more spacious and more luxurious. Does it need to be huge? Does a huge house really make you happier? Probably not. So instead of waiting until you’re rich to have your dream home, how about thinking how you can make your current home into your dream home? Take action now on the things you want! How to Turn Your Current Home Into Your Dream Home Let’s take this moment to look at how you can turn any property into a dream home on a modest budget. This will hopefully then serve as a good example of how you can get what you want from life much more easily once you’ve narrowed down what you really want. In this case, you say you want to be rich, but what you really want is a beautiful home. You’re putting off doing it because you think that that requires you to be wealthy or retired but you can have it right now if you just focus on the small differences that will make that property feel closer to the one in your dreams. Here are some steps you can take: Throw out a lot of your things – This might sound surprising but the more of your things you throw out, the more items you’ll be left with will start to look beautiful and amazing. If you have a lot of clutter in your home, then you’re essentially lowering the average value and the average quality of the things you do own. Throw out 90% of your ornaments and the remaining 10% will be the most amazing looking things you have. Likewise, they’ll look less cluttered and thereby draw more attention to themselves. They’ll also be much easier to clean! Go more minimal – In general, going more minimal with your décor can help you to make your home look much bigger and it makes it that much easier to clean. It’s also a very modern look that’s much more affordable. So stop spending lots of money on large collections of items you don’t need and instead save up for just a few beautiful things. Prioritize! – If it’s your home that gives you the most pleasure then how about prioritizing it and spending a bit more money on it right now? That might mean cancelling your television subscription for instance and putting that cash into a cleaner, or it might mean not going on holiday this year and getting double glazing instead. Learn décor – This is a big one. Instead of just placing items around based on what you think looks good, spend some time learning what makes great décor. Once you learn the tricks, you can take a relatively standard looking room and make it look incredible. Does your room have a color palette? Do your cushions match your drapes? It sounds silly but these practices have developed over years of research and business and they make a huge difference. Look for bargains – If you know where to look and you leverage your contacts, you can make some amazing additions to your home relatively cheaply. This may mean that you speak nicely to your friend who happens to be a builder (mate’s rates!) or it might mean that you look on freecycle to find free furniture. Get a few center pieces – Just a few high tech pieces of technology, or a few amazing decorations can make all the difference to your home. Depending on your priorities that might mean adding a massive flat screen TV to your living room, or some kind of spectacular water fountain. This bit is expensive but it’s all about investing your money wisely – making the biggest impact with the fewest changes. And sometimes it’s just about doing something different that people don’t see all that often. This makes your home memorable and it doesn’t even have to be expensive. Suddenly, that home that you thought was off limits starts to feel a lot closer. Sure, it’s a compromise, but while you work on becoming that millionaire you’ll be much happier with the property you’re in. Stop deferring your happiness, ask what you can do right now within your means to be happier! The same kind of approach can be applied to your dress sense (just a few clever changes can make your outfits that much more impressive) and to your lifestyle. In the next chapter, we’ll be looking at some of the ways you can start making real progress in your career now instead of waiting for something to change for you. How to Get Both Things On a final note, you’ll find that sometimes the things you want are in contrast to one another. Remember that scenario we posited at the beginning of the book? The pilot who wants to fly long haul but doesn’t want to leave his family? Actually, it’s more complicated than that. What he really wants is to fly for British Airways (he’s in the UK) because that gives more status than his current position at EasyJet. Moving there and flying long-haul would be the next logical step in his career but it also means upending his family (as British Airways don’t fly from Manchester where his wife wants to live) and it would mean spending long times away from home.
